People keep saying Wayne Simmonds is soft? I haven't seen a single person say that. Please provide some links to people saying Wayne Simmonds is soft. Should be super easy to do cause people keep doing it.
He isnt soft ,but age has caught up with him

National Hockey League games, when tied, include shootouts. It's actual hockey.
National hockey league games, when tied exclusively in the regular season, allocate points based on the results of a skills competition gimmick, which is not hockey, and is not representative of team quality.
Really...Thorton,Spezza and Simmonds along with Vesey....Says what it is right there..
What it is is good, cheap depth that will have a chance to earn a role. There's nothing wrong with those signings, and this thread is about Brodie.

It’s a part of the game and is indicative of a players level of skill which directly correlates with team quality. If you have skillful players, you throw them out and hope to catch the W. If you lose, it’s mostly because of the skill of the goaltender to stop a puck which again correlates with team quality.

They dont do enough ,Simmonds is likely the best suited for what the Leafs need in that bottom 6,but more was needed...Spezza Vesey and Thorton are just a waste of money

Those 3 make 2.3 million combined Vesey makes more than Thornton and Spezza and Spezza was fantastic last year

His point is that they’re not really useful players at that price, especially with the lack of foot speed and playing a bottom 6 role. While that all remains to be seen, I deep down in my heart think Dubas lost the plot with those signings as well as this one with Brodie. Brodie has no GIO to help him out.

It does not. Interestingly, the worst team in the league at shootouts this season, was the President's trophy winning team, featuring the Rocket winner.

They are not a waste of money at all. That's a baseless claim.

Seriously already? Is the point to win hockey games or to have the best stats according to Dekes for Days? You win hockey games(including shootouts) to get points. Points move you up in the standings. The standings determine what route you have in the playoffs you win more hockey games to advance in the playoffs. 16 wins (normally) gets you the Stanley cup. Enough trying to twist it around that the team that won the cup doesn’t matter because they didn’t have the most high danger shots p60 or whatever. It’s nonsense

What half finished season? surely not this year, the played 70 games

And could have got to 105 pts. However unlikely it seems (we did in 2006).

you can’t argue that raw points determine everything. Then use points percentage. It’s silly

Spezza proved last year he's still useful, Vesey has 3 seasons of 15+ goals and Thornton was still on pace for about 35 points so I'm not sure where the idea these aren't useful players comes from

Nobody has said this. You're just creating strawmen now.
It does, you has skill to put the puck in the net you more often than not catch the W.
According to what, especially over single-seasons? It's an entirely different skill. Again, the worst team in the league at it this year was the President's trophy winner, featuring the Rocket winner. There is little to no correlation between team quality and shootouts, and it's something that doesn't even exist in the playoffs, because the NHL recognizes how arbitrary the results are.

These are the same bozos that have convinced themselves that the team that wins the most playoff games is somehow the best and refuse to look at any other metrics beyond that.

Idiots.

There is a reason why shootouts aren’t used in the playoffs. It’s because they have nothing. To do with winning a real game.

kinda a dumb example

Or because they don't need them because there are no ties to remove the shoot-out was brought in the elminate ties

There are no ties to remove because they extend the game of actual hockey indefinitely instead of going to a shootout, because they recognize how arbitrary shootout results are.

Its a waste of money. We'll know for sure this season. It's not baseless at all. Your whole alternate reality of hockey is baseless and brings humour to dozens at least.
