Kid is getting points but dare I ask what is his +/- for each of his games?

Liljegren has been on the ice for 3 ES goals against - one of them was an EN - in 4 games. As he has also been on the ice for 3 ES goals for, he is at 0.

Just an FYI for all on here. He was kept in camp the whole time to see if he was ready right now. We need an upgrade at the Right D position as Carrick struggles and it is plain to see.

He will likely get his chance after the World Jr or sooner if Babs thinks he is ready. They are watching his development very close and he has not been sent to the AHL to percolate as some seem to like that term. He has NHL skills right now and do not be surprised if he gets called up to practice with the team a few times in the next month or so.

The notion of him needing to be an impact D man before playing in the NHL is simply not how things work. Highly skilled players play in the NHL when they are ready and that is sooner rather then later when the need arises. Carrick will seriously need to pick up his game to stay all year.

I agree he has NHL skills but from what I saw he needs to adjust to the NHL game and ice size, so imo it's about how quickly he makes that adjustment.

just an FYI for everybody... that is just this guys opinion, and it's not fact.

Carrick is a decent young nhler. He will play the season with the leafs unless he gets traded to another NHL team. Liljegren is not a better option at the NHL level today, and will likely stay with the marlies all year to develop. He needs to do that before he can even "percolate". For those who like that term. But if he were NHL ready it would be Rosen looking for a new job as carrick is the same age as him but much better.

Another FYI.. this is just my opinion, but it's better then the one I'm quoting.

I'm pretty sure Timmy would be an upgrade on the bottom pair right now, though the talent on our bottom pair is good enough that we can be patient while Timmy logs some bit minutes in the AHL to get even readier.

But don't be surprised if he ends up on the team come playoff time.

I am so glad we kept him over here with the Marlies.

He seems to be making the transition to the AHL fairly seamlessly. If he keeps improving and continues to put up the numbers he has through the first 4 games, it will be interesting to see if he ends up with the Leafs later in the season, especially if he clearly looks to be a better option than Carrick.

I feel like due to draft position, some are not realizing how good of a player we have here, and that he is a lot closer to the Big Show than people believe.

He wasn't kept in camp to see if he was ready right now, Babcock said from the get go he was keeping a huge roster right up until late in camp. He wasn't in the mix at all, as evidenced by how much he played after the first couple games. Isn't a knock, but he would have been cut well before the end of camp if Babcock hadn't decided to keep two full teams, two sets of D. Just saying. I'd add it was pretty obvious even at the rookie camp that he wasn't a serious consideration this year, which is fine. Going to be fun watching him develop this year.

He's certainly ready from a skill perspective, but he's not physically ready for the NHL yet. If you watch entire AHL games, he loses far too many 1 on 1 battles and is separated from the puck too easily. Once he adds another 10lbs, skies the limit.

He's coming along just at the right time, hopefully in another year when the big contracts start to kick in, he'll be a high end, cheap option.

Played a pretty good game today.

Got walked once by Tokchinsky but he also made some dynamite plays including the assist to Marchment. Completely froze the goalie.

wow this kid is sick. its going to take a freak accident for him not to be top4, legit Dman with pick 17? unreal. Soon unexpected good-great thing will become the new "so leafy" instead of unexpected failure
