Thx for the replay since I was at the game & was wondering WTH happened to get Gourde going.

So, Wideman is saying anybody & everybody should have to fight in the last 5 minutes of a 1 goal game if they accidentally high stick someone?

From that replay I'm not even 100% convinced it was McDavid's stick. I think it was Tolvanen's stick.

Edit: it was 100% Tolvanen's stick.
Agreed we saw nothing on the screen at the arena; only saw what happened to that punk here.

Hey everyone has different tastes. At least you gave it a try. On my side it’s probably top 5 all time watches for me. My wife and I couldn’t stop. Was a total binge fest. The humor definitely is unique. It was a weird mix of American and British humor. But not the typical British humor (dry). Ted lasso to a lot of people that I talk to is less about the humor and mostly about a show that actually focuses more on “good feels” than anything else. Tugs at the heart strings in a weird way.

And hey at least you are channeling the same effort here with the oilers. You’re giving skinner a chance!!!
I;ve read reviews just to see if theres something I wasn't getting. It seems the most is that it debuted during height of pandemic in 2020 when people were looking for things to grab onto. Kind of like a program that is a comfort blanket. Being that we just started watching it recently it was out of that zeitgeist and we really weren't feeling anything. My wife likes TV more than I do and she couldn't watch more. On the other hand we binged Friday Night Lights during pandemic and that gave us the kind of feels people speak of in Ted Lasso. I guess that was our Pandemic program.

For me Ted Lasso was trying to get by on typical juxtaposition. Same shtick as the Beverly Hillbillies which Hollywood always seems to pump out. Put people in a new setting and watch them be weird. Even the accent annoyed us. Just didn't work for us. Basically nothing on Apple TV does. I've watched Monarch Monsters, not enough monsters, tried several others and we just stop watching. The only series we watched all of on Apple (and its only one season) was severance. We thought that was unique.

Kind of hilarious looking at reactions around the Hockey world and last couple days its finally coalesced into Uh oh, the Oilers are really really good and dangerous. Its like the realization finally hit for some. Guess they were too busy declaring Nucks, Jets, and Leafs as greats.

The feeling in watching the Oilers right now is they would stop any team at the moment. Even with some subpar performances from say Nuge and Kane. Would be interesting to face the Nucks now.

The funny thing is that Gourde actually got hit in the face by Tolvainens stick. Lol.

Just having a tantrum on McDavid because his own guy accidentally clipped him.
I enjoyed seeing McD ragdoll Yamamoto repeatedly. That was fun. Really what I would want for any shit like Gourde is for the refs to just step and go "You wanted Ekholm, here he is" Let Ek feed some sense into him. I doubt it would work but I'd replay it several times.

I don't get this whole phoney tough thing the Kraken try on for size. They start a lot of shit they can't handle. Maybe they aren't like this every game but does Larsson ever have some kind of burr in his side against the Oilers. It was his decision to leave and yet everytime he seems enraged about the Oilers or something. Pulling cheapshots every game against us.

I think that was more because they hated the orange jerseys.

They used their primary blue unis last playoffs.
Yes they did hate the Adidas orange ones but they are also on record saying the love the navy thirds. My guess is because it gives them their own identity rather than lhaving to live up to the blue and orange. They also really loved the 20/21 reverse retros

I have to give some props to Connor Brown. I thought he was fantastic on the PK. He was really flying out there and was a big reason we didn't give up a PP goal. Would like to see him pot a goal, and unfortunate that he couldn't get an ENG. I think he has been helping this team win, but the way he's been helping us doesn't show in the goals and assists column.
He has been playing quite well for a while now in every part of the rink except that his luck stinks around the opposition net.

I think it's been an emphasis in their room to try and be tough because they've been pushed around a little bit.

I think they're just naive / not smart enough to know that they want literally none of that noise with Edmonton. 😂

Like who on that team fights Kane? Nurse? Desharnais? 🦗🦗🦗

Thing is, even if you take out the Oilers big boys, like Ekholm / Bouchard / McDavid / Draisaitl / Kulak / Foegele etc all kind of dwarf the average kraken in size.

The thing that's even funnier I think is like why in the hell would you want to goad the Oilers into a potential special teams bout? I know our PP been mediocre if late, but really? When does that benefit anyone to let some of the most talented players in the league get into the game with time and space? And why in the hell would you want to get beat up to do it?! 😂

I did laugh too, at one point the camera showed Nurse talking to Kozari and I thought he said something to the effect of "do something about this, or I will."

I'm convinced Dennis Wideman hangs out and posts on CP.

Look at this f***ing nonsense.

Edit: This is probably just a Flames fan (thanks @TopShelfGloveSide ), but either way it's absurd take

That tweet belongs in the ‘Edmonton is no good’ thread there on CP.

It’s kind of funny how we don’t have or need those type of cope threads on here.

He made one play, where he held the puck toe dragged the puck and shot, with (I think) Hamblin providing a great screen, but Daccord got a blocker on it, I was surprised he didn't find the net there. It was nice play.

Has any Oilers move ever invalidated all the energy we as a fan base spent quite like how picking up Ekholm cast the Chychrun or Karlsson discussions into a thing of forgotten myth? He is exactly what this team needed.
Probably the best trade acquisition we have made since Pronger

Yeah couldn't agree more. He is quite effective, but snakebitten to an insane degree. Good on the PK, responsible and generates a lot of chances.

I think McD was having the same convo with Eberle. "Does your cracked team have Rabies" ? It did seem very much like compensation. A team trying to be something they are not. Was just watching a stupid video breakdown of the game from a Krack fan. Apparently the Kraken "Blew it" with not one bit of credit to the Oilers just taking the game over once they felt like it, and Drai having a masterclass 2nd period. The reality is we have several better players than anybody in the Kraken line up. When those players are feeling it they make a difference.

Its amazing how much commentary fails to realize Drai purposely banks it off Daccord into the net. Apparently he just got lucky. lol. Next Drai gets no credit for the two amazing passes in tht period. On the go ahead goal Drai takes a pass that is off, redirects it perfectly from skate to stick, without even a hint this is magic, then like nothing in perfect timing sends Foegele free like its the easiest thing. About 5 other players in the world could make that sequence of plays flawlessly. 5 other times in the game Drai one touched a pass into a perfect position in the slot. So quickly making plays his linemates didn't adapt.

Drai is having this kind of game playing with Foegele who is on, and Kane who is definitely not. But he's making magic happen every 2nd game and scoring every game. Drai back to 100pt pace and just heating up. He's dissecting teams. Taking them apart limb from limb. The Kraken have still never had an answer for Drai. He has something like 20pts against them in 8-9 games.

So that’s why he was so pissy. Gourde took a dive to change the complexion of the game, then tried to gode McDavid into a fight for the same purposes, the got angry no one was buying his bullshit so he took a run at Ekholm? f***in trash. Kane better pay him a visit next time out as he’s hinted.
