Unreal. Now Boucher snipes one on the 2nd PP for the Comets!

2-0. The Comets are perfect on the PP and perfect on the PK.

Comets back to the PP again.
Archi, Bancks, Goldobin, Boucher, Bancks, and Holm.

1 guy from Rochester down the ice. Bancks and Holm can't keep the puck away from his forecheck and Demko has to stop a wraparound.

Boucher!!!!!!!! AGAIN!

PP goal again. 3-0 Comets on 6 shots. Outshot 22-5 by my count.

Period comes to an end and it's 3-0 Comets and it's one of the strangest periods I can remember in a whole lot of years.

This Thatcher Demko kid is all-world!.....I know the plan is to have him finish his season with big minutes in the AHL, but can't really see how another year in Utica next year would be of any benefit to him.....time to find out what he'd do against NHL shooters.

Boucher and Goldobin are on fire.....if the Canucks need scoring there are options now on the farm.....always liked Nick Baptiste's game with the Amerks......somebody Jimbo should target if he ever does a deal with the Sabers.

BG, can you explain the rationale for those Healthy Scratches? Very curious.

Let's see how the rest of the season goes. Have to agree he is awesome right now, but he ran streaks like this last season as well and then became human for stretches. Am pleased to see Cull ride the hot hand.

Ullmark in goal to start the second period replacing Wilcox.

Comets with their 5th PP early in the second.

Chatfield, Sautner, and Holm have yet to sit. This is Subbie's first. McEneny has sat one. Brisebois has sat one. Wiercioch is now out 3 and Sifers has sat 4 times. If the Subban scratch is Cull just rotating the non vets, Sauntner and Chatfield should be in line for the next 2. If it doesn't happen, you'd have to get inside Cull's head.

You know there are Vancouver posters championing Cull for his great work at developing kids. Interesting in itself since he has never been an AHL coach before and the Comets have only played 4 games. They will have to explain his treatment of Subban, McEneny, and Rodin since they are 3 guys who are young and just on the outside and a little more development could get them to the show. As to Rodin, Molino has done nothing and Rodin is sitting. Sure Megna could sit another one since his efforts haven't been earth shattering either (his assist tonight his 1st point of the season).

Have to wonder if Vancouver is done with Anton and thus, whether he plays or not is inconsequential. Cull says the vets are handling the scratches like real pros, but he is the only forward scratched more than once and tonight makes 4/5. Have to wonder if he is really game ready even if he is healthy. He was one Hell of a player when here last season. If he plays like that now keeping him on the bench would be criminal.

Comets miss on a 2 on 1 and then commit a penalty. Comets to the PK.

HUGE stop once again. Another glove stop. That's 2 more quick saves.

Zilch is drooling all over himself oozing over Thatcher. I'd use another analogy, but moderators.

To all the Utica residents here: has there been any buzz about Demko in Utica? Do you feel you have a legitimate star in net there? He did come into the AHL last season as a highly touted goalie prospect so I know there was some hype in that respect.

The kill is over. It's the Comets surrendering a couple point blank chances, Demko making the saves, and the 4 killers doing the rest. Your best guy on the PK is supposed to be the keeper, but this PK effort tonight is just ludicrous.

After 2 it's Utica 5 Rochester 0

SOG 15-10 Utica for a 2-period total of 32-21 Rochester.

PP:
Utica 1/2
Rochester 0/1

A much better period for the Comets.

Cull has to get the team to come out of the gate with a lot more zip than they have been. Tonight has been more of the same in the first, but this one was really bad. The PP isn't going to be there every night to allow them to bail themselves out and the PP won't score like this every night either. They have had 0 for nights already and will have many more. Regardless, these poor 1st periods will bite them in the *** more often than not. A very bad habit to get into.

He was a fan favorite and he will be an even bigger one this season. We recognize what he is and his future is looking very rosy. He is currently the only blue chip, so called can't miss draft pick ever to be assigned to Utica.

Goldobin and Boucher will become quick favs once they are eyeballed a couple games, scorers always will be and the Comets haven't had many. They are already along in their careers and have the known issues that have to be eradicated if they are to make it in the NHL.

We saw Goldy and recognized his offense in only 3 games here. He has the touch.

Boucher has it as well, but no one here has actually seen it. I think the surprise at the moment is his play making contributions. His 2 goals tonight are what most here would have been expecting. They have both been AHL stars already and it's whether they can take it to the next level. Both have big defensive question marks. That's Cull's job to fix.

Woods with an aggressive effort on an Amerk who hit Holm. He jumped right in and threw him to the ice with authority.

Woods off for two/roughing.

If these 3 stay with the Comets, the All-Star selections should be interesting. They had 3 selections in '14-15, the last time it was in Utica.
