Great career, terrible ending. Terrible match, terrible build. Should have been epic but instead was just very good. Wrong opponent and 2-3 years too late.

I think the End of an Era match was the way to go. When they walked up the ramp together, it was awesome. Taker could have left with streak in tact. But that moment was perfect. I still love HBK trying to cheat to help beat the streak and sitting on the mat almost in shame of himself. Great storytelling.

For the record - it's Taker's call ultimately. If he wants to wrestle til he's 90, so be it. I sure as heck wouldn't pass up the once a year paydays. But in terms of poetic ways to go out, End of an Era was it.

I actually didn't hate American Badass/Big Evil Taker. It also made his return as the true Undertaker that much more epic.

I lost my ****ing mind at his XX entrance. Glad I get to relive it through YouTube.

I still remember watching him debut at Survivor Series.

Too bad Paul Bearer wasn't there to lead him to the ring.

Big question I've always wondered, like a number of greats before him, are they going to give him the mic to end the show, and would he do that?

I think they would have advertised it for tonight but nothing so far. They could announce it as the show opens though and build to it all night.

If not, he definitely headlines the hall of fame.

Taker is one of the all time greats. Amazing career, but really wish his last two matches didn't happen. Wish they would have given him a better send off match wise. I remember watching Taker as a kid and just being in aw of him.

Thank you, Taker.

Bret Hart on Instagram -

I want to congratulate my close friend the Undertaker on a great career. I salute you for being a great leader, a phenomenal worker, and WWE's all time greatest war horse. I cherish my memories working together in the ring and I'll never forget how you had my back so many times over so many years. As a fan, I'll miss you always. Thank you for everything. You are as iconic as iconic gets. #ThankYouTaker

Favorite iterations of Taker?

I really liked lord of darkness Taker. His attitude era song was awesome as well. Ministry Taker was nuts but pretty cool

Thank you taker, if this is your final resting place, then thank you, thank you, thank you...my most favorite wrestler since day 1 at survivor series..for everything you have done and all those years of entertaining us fans and for what you did...you are the greatest of all wrestlers of all time and no one will ever replace you.NEVER..A sad day but one we knew was coming, you can now go take your rightful place in the hall of fame on your throne of darkness.....all us fans can say now is THANK YOU!!!!!

I cried at the undertaker chants that led off raw, i have never seen a hall of fame induction but i'll be damned if im gonna miss takers, dont't have the network or order ppv's but follow everything online...i ain't missin takers call to the hall thats for sure!!!

i remember when i had freinds come over to watch a ppv, and taker was fighting bret hart, bret won. And i got really pissed cause i put money on taker...I started chucking stuff all over the place and swearing and even grabbed a christmas wreath and chucked it out the front door...LOL..I was not mad that i lost the money or even made at taker i just hated bret hart and im canadian LOL.!!!!

Taker you have given me and everyone around this planet decades of memories and stories to tell, like a legend from a 10 star movie your about to ride off into the sunset and enjoy your life i hope in no more pain and be a fan just like us!!!!

cheers Taker, thank you and i truly do mean that!!!!!!!

I will cry during his hof induction

Should be pretty interesting how that goes. I sense he won't take up as much time as he'd be allowed. You hardly ever heard from him, and I'd say that was among the realest parts of his character. Kane will get to induct him, which will be pretty special as well. Glad we got that last quick Brothers of Destruction program at Survivor Series in 2015.

Nearly made me cry as a kid when he Tombstoned Hulk on the chair and won the belt. I was always a fan, but I was 9 or 10 so of course I liked Hulk more.

The iteration of the character through roughly '96 was my favorite. I liked the Ministry of Darkness Taker stretch as well, nearly hated American Badass, and wasn't really watching much after that. Big Evil seemed OK and the last return to almost-original was good.

I hope he gives a real speech. The gimmick is over so there is no kayfabe reasons he can't just be Mark.

It was obviously time, but it is still nuts that it is over. No more Taker entrances.
