Matheson says some of the weirdest stuff. I think it might be time to hang them up.
I'm not even sure how Matheson is still a sports journalist to be honest. There are plenty of younger, talented journalists waiting for their opportunity.
I love the sound of that! Thanks Hawks!I've talked to a couple of Blackhawks fans on their forum, and they all said that there's no chance the hawks take a RHD with Jokiharu and Mitchell as established prospects already. They said it comes down to whether Bowman prefers Kotkaniemi or Smith (most fans want Kotka)... leaving a RD for us
Have been listening to Stauffer a bit. Seems we were really high on Dobson but Stauffer says “No chance we get him now” and thinks Dobson will go as high as #4 (personally think Mtl will also look at him but that is me and not Stauffer).
Stauffer says for him their is a top 11. Will reveal his top 11 on Thursday show when he will be in Buf at the combine.
Also referenced not trading the pick unless it’s a slam dunk. Says doesn’t see Chia moving it unless it’s a good deal. Says he wouldn’t move it for Max Pac due his contract length.
Anyways guessing the Oilers are going to take Ty Smith. My hunch is when Stauffer lays out his top 11 the two guys will be Kotkaniemi and Smith (most obvious guys and ones we’ve all discussed here for a while).
Seen this schtick from him before. He’s probably talked to the scouts and/or Keith Gretzky. Gets a sense of what the team is thinking and then starts preparing everyone. Will be interesting to see who he starts pimping in the next few weeks.
It will start Thursday for anyone interested.
On a side note it’s a kind of a bummer about Dobson playing so well. Really wanted him here. Would have looked great in Oiler silks. That last win of the season is once again really going to bite us again for the draft. My two favourite players for months have been Hughes and Dobson and now both will be gone by the time we pick.
A part of me now wants the Oilers to trade up to get their guy

Bob just released his top 12:
Dahlin
Svechnikov
Zadina
Dobson
Tkachuk
Hughes
Boqvist
Kotkaniemi
Wahlstrom
Bouchard
Smith
Hayton
Bouchard at 10? Yes please.
I'm guessing Boqvist and Bouchard will be swapped here. Bouchard is a safe pick who's very close to NHL ready, which will make teams value him higher. Boqvist has a higher ceiling, but he's got a lot more risk that he might never turn out and he's minumum 3 years away likely.Yes please. From all the rumours were hearing I wouldn't be surprised if the following happens:
Buf - Dahlin
Car - Svech
Mtl - Zadina
Ott - Tkachuk
Ari - Dobson
Det - Hughes
Van - Boqvist
Chi - Kotkaniemi
NYR - Wahlstrom
Edm - Bouchard
I would love Bouchard.

I've seen some Wings fans say they think the Wings are very high on Bouchard. I could see Dobson falling to their pick so moving down if they think they'd still get Bouchard would make sense.
Were people really that high on Dobson based on the Memorial Cup? Maybe I wasn't paying that much attention because he didn't really wow me to the point where he would shoot up my rankings if I had him ranked.
I don't really have any of them ranked because I haven't seen very much of these kids at all now that hockey streams was eliminated and MIC stopped broadcasting them.
I remember Halls draft year the 2 big dman that fell were Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley - they were ranked top 10, maybe even top 5, and fell to 12 and 13 respectively. Of course only 1 of them turned out, that happens. The point is I can see something similar happening here - and the Oilers having their pick of a couple D
For me the Memorial Cup was confirmation. I had him at 4 before the event... I have him at 3 now. I would pick him before Zadina. I’m that certain now that his skills will translate. I struggled with the debate between him and Boqvist as the second best defender of the draft based on upside before, but it’s an easy one now.I've seen some Wings fans say they think the Wings are very high on Bouchard. I think there's a few things that could make the Nucks look at Bouchard. I believe him and Juolevi were partners last year before Juolevi went back to Finland, and there's pressure from management for a quick turnaround so a dman who could be a player for them in 19/20 if not this coming year could be a lot more appealing. It'll be an interesting draft for sure, I'm confident one of the 4 dmen will be there at 10 but I keep flip flopping as to which one it'll be.With Vancouver loving the swedes and rumoured to be liking Boqvist and Dobson/ I would be surprised if they took Bouchard.
I still thing the wings take the guy right in their back yard. And yes people are going crazy for Dobson right now (which is why I have him going 5).

Okay guys lets say all the picks Oilers want out of the top 10 are gone. Who would you take out of the 11-20? (I know everyone will most likely say Kotkaniemi but lets say he was never in the draft)
Where would you rank Bode Wilde? That's someone I'd look atSo
Dahlin
Svech
Zadina
Dobson
Hughes
Wahlstrom
Bouchard
Kotkaniemi
Boqvist
Tkachuk
Are all Gone?
Somehow?
Vegas?
In that case farabee or smith.....or the bold pick....dellandrea.
