The « Cant’ bet against Mahomes in the playoffs” is so disrespectful to Andy Reid, especially when looking at the coaching malpractice that was on display in Baltimore and San Fran (by Detroit) last night. Does anybody here seriously think Mahomes is seeing 4 SB’s in 5 years with Sean McDermott as his head coach? It’s the Mahomes and Andy Reid combo that is seemingly invincible.

That’s an excellent point.

Some teams can be automatically eliminated from consideration because of their incompetent HC - - Chargers with Staley, Lions with Campbell, Bills with Spanky McDermott.

Says a lot about this site when a Maude laughs at that

Let’s be honest, my friend - - Broke Purdy lasted until the end of the 7th round because he’s a mediocre QB who played on a mediocre NCAA team.

Glorifying Purdy for getting to the Super Bowl is the equivalent of glorifying Nick Foles and Rex Grossman for accomplishing the same feat.

If he wins the game I won’t give a flying f*** what anyone thinks of him. He could be the next Dilfer or Johnson for all I care.

Kurt Warner won a SB as an undrafted free agent. Doesn't matter if you were drafted or even when you are drafted once you turn pro.

Warner had a fantastic team around him filled with one of the best offensive schemes ever when he won.

Naturally, it was a one-and-done championship.

Do you honestly think a no-talent hack like undrafted Tom Devito could ever lead a team to the Super Bowl?

Him, no. But, once you turn pro your pedigree doesn't matter. All that matters is whether you can perform when your opportunity arises. The higher you get drafted the more opportunities you get. The later you are drafted or not drafted, you may only get 1 shot.

Um, Warner went there again in 2001 and lost.

The QB's decision making does matter. Warner had that ability to make the right reads. QB scouting is heavily colored by "maximum potential". Meaning any duck thrower, slow plodder, is going to have his stock fall because those are "autofail" traits. Can't get the ball far, no athleticism...the general presumption is that they are physically incapable of doing what a #1 overall could reach.

There’s a reason teams trade away a fortune in assets to move up the draft as high as possible to get a QB instead of just waiting to take what’s left in the 6th or 7th round or as a UDFA - - because we already know 99% of the late round guys are going to fail because they’re God-awful quarterbacks.

Niners will torch the Chiefs mediocre run D, it all depends on their start. Niners start well and they're easily winning this game. They start slow like the GB/DET game and they're getting sent to the moon.

Speaking of mediocre run defense, did you watch the 1stH of the NFC game?

Giving up 148yds rushing in a half is embarrassingly bad. You almost have to intentionally try to be that useless.

Tampa, FL.
if you really think the 9ers defense is better after watching these playoffs i’ll just let you live in your little fantasy land

the niners have given up more points in two games than the chiefs have in three LMAO
Cherry picking two games now, as expected. I actually said that K.C. had a very good defense and based on stats it does indicate they are slightly better. Not best in the league, and they have weaknesses that can definitely be exploited. Their offense has also been average this year. Keep those crazy homer takes coming, it'll be all the better if they lose. It was beyond great when K.C fans crowed for two weeks how they'd rout Brady and the Bucs too, that was some good times after that game(although most K.C. fans disappeared real fast around many message boards interestingly enough).

Yeah it cuts both ways, never said the Niners run D is good but the Ravens legitimately didn't try to run it and it's their bread and butter. Won't be that lucky against SF psyching themselves and going away from theirs was my point

Yes, that was inexplicable how Baltimore totally refused to run the ball for the entire game. Only 16 rushing attempts for the entire team all day - - McCaffery will be close to that number by halftime.

SF will also not be that lucky again to have a bumbling jackass like Dan Campbell making terrible coaching mistakes throughout the game either.

Trenches wins this game. Who can control it? Sometimes both HC can be guilty of moving away from the run. This is likely to be a single digit possession game for both clubs. So, they have to make them all count. Can KC establish the LOS like they did vs Bal, holding the ball for 15 minutes total on their first 2 possessions? Or what SF did in the 2nd half with 13 minutes of TOP between the 2 failed 4th down attempts.

Everything is matchups. Can pretty much throw season stats away. It's going to be how your OL matches their DL, how your WR matches to their secondary, etc. Where are your matchup advantages and can you maximize them. Plus, who executes on the big play chances that they get?

MVS dropped a game winner early in the season. Makes the reception in the AFC Championship game to seal the deal and send KC to the SB. Someone has to step up and make a difficult play. Like Ayuik did on that throw that should have been a pick or knock down, but he was able to catch it off the deflection.

Game will be won/lost in the trenches. Who is going to commit and ultimately run the ball well. SF got run on by GB and Det. That's the blueprint to attack the SF D.
KC, very good vs the pass. SF has to run CMC and if needed put Deebo in the backfield as well. Each possession is going to matter. Can't be going 3 and out multiple times. Probably looking at a max of 4 possessions per half.

Can imagine both Reid and Shanny spending the next 2 weeks scripting their opening drives.
San Fran won't abandon the run like the Ravens did. They also are happy to play ball control offense with short passes. Mahomes will score some points but San Fran will prevail in a close one.

Niners...

This will be the 4th rematch between head coaches in Super Bowl history but it will be the first where the coach that lost the first matchup will win the second matchup.

With Taylor Swift being rammed down everyone's throat so much, if the Chiefs win it will almost feel like the NFL fixed or rigged the outcome.

So that all the bandwagon Chiefs fans (who only became fans because of Taylor Swift) get to have their fairy-tale ending.
