First I was disappointed that Bratt didn't get a point tonight. Not frustrated or anything, just like, 'damn, wish Bratt got a point'

Then I remembered that he scored a goal Wednesday and realized how crazy it is that I'm looking for a 19 year old 6th round draft pick to get on the scoresheet every night.

Goddamn this season is fun.

It's because Bratt has been playing like a Top 10 draft pick.

That tends to inflate expectations......just a little bit. ;)

take 2 seconds and call it a day. he has josefson written all over him.
yea i rather have pavel zacha than 2 seconds. sven baertschi was traded for two seconds after being a high pick, Nino Nieddereiter for Cal Clutterbuck. Don't think they get traded for those now. I rather take the chance on Zacha because his floor is still NHL player. The Devils don't improve today by doing a trade like that.

it's pretty funny you even bring this up after the game he had today. Robbed of points because his linemates didn't finish.

Was Chico back tonight?

Come on man, He already has half as many career points as Josefson in less than a third of the total games played....

He's not nearly in Josefson territory right now. Josefson had 22 points after 89 games in the league, Zacha already has 31 points in 89 games and is approximately 1.5 years younger now than Josefson was at the time he was 89 games into the league. Josefson had also been nearing the end of his third professional season in North America. Zacha has been in North America for a few years now, but is only still just past a quarter of the way into his second pro season. Josefson did have more games lost to injury during that time, but Zacha is still 18 months younger and 9 points ahead of where Josefson was at the 89 game mark of his NHL career.

Missed this one, watching the replay Zacha looks like James Neal. His shot is so strong, happy to see him looking to use it at every opportunity.

I think sometimes some posters forget how young Zacha is despite being drafted in 2015.
I know it's hard but you can't compare him to hischier, bratt or similar. We have so much depth on the forward position that we can take our time with Zacha. It tends to benefit in the long term if you can do that.

Great game from Zacha tonight I never would have said this but maybe he's a winger. I do I want to see him play more as he did in junior where he was hitting a lot more and driving hard to the net while protecting the puck on the forehand or backhand. Why haven't we seen he's deadly one timer yet?

Zacha in a very underwhelming season and with limited ice time, is still on pace for 23 points, well if he played 82 games, which he obviously can't now. That's like 8 more points than Sergey Kalinin scored in 15-16, while being given a generous amount of PP time and too much time with Hall and Palmieri. I understand this is not the barometer we should be using to measure Zacha's production, as Kalinin is one of the worst offensive non-goon players to have a full time roster spot in the NHL for almost two seasons, in quite some time. I can start rattling off almost every name in the bottom 6 from the two years before this, and Zacha is still producing at a better clip than them.

Not to mention that only one of Zacha's points are on the PP. He started out last year pretty slow with production as well. He has 5 points in 18 games this year, he had only 5 points in 18 games last year. And he also played about 10 more minutes or so after 18 games last year, than he has after 18 games this year.

You spent too much energy defending zacha to fools. But thank you. Zacha wasn't drafted as some high powered scorer. He has been playing just fine mostly playing w other 3rd or 4th line caliber point producers. He is creating chances and hard on the puck. Not worried about his points they will come to extent at which he is capable.

Did anyone else notice Nico’s speed tonight? He looked like Hall rushing the puck up the zone a couple times. He looked faster than I’ve ever seen him. Very impressive.

Indeed. :)

Back in the pre draft days, in his thread in the prospects section, someone took the time & effort to calculate his actual speed in videos from his time with the Mooseheads, with complex calculations (to me at least, ahah) and then compared that to McDavid. According to that dude's calculations, Hischier had pretty much the same speed.
As an inside note, speed is a characteristic of pretty much every Swiss player because that's something that it's pushed very hard in the Swiss NLA. If you look at all Swiss players in the league now, there isn't one that is slow.

So, yes Nico has great speed. It's just that he was playing that... lurking type of game, a la Datsyuk. But the kid has wheels as good as anyone else around, for sure.

Does anyone remember when about that Hischier deke was? I want to go back and watch but of course the highlights skip right over that and him getting reamed behind the net.

Sequence starts at 9:42 of the second period (if you have nhl.tv, it's around 1:17:12 of the whole broadcast) with Hischier getting the puck deep in the defensive zone and he goes all the way, drawing the penalty that then leads to BB's goal.

Could you possibly be a little more specific? :sarcasm:

Thank you good sir.

I've been very critical of Zacha this year, but he had a great game last night, full stop. I really like him on the wing, your defensive responsibilities are a little more straightforward, and you have a little more freedom.

Josefson's stats may be close to Zacha, but I never saw Josefson look like Zacha did last night. The kid still has a ton of improvement left IMO. You add improvement on to what he did last night, plus better linemates in the future, and that's a player I am not trading for 2 2nd's.

That's funny, I thought the exact same thing - Josefson has had nice games but he has never in his life played a game like Zacha played last night. And I still think there's room for improvement.

There is no comparison between PZ & JJ, at all.

It's truly silly or made by someone who doesn't watch many Devils games.
