I feel like they're going to regret the contract if the rumor about Karlsson making more than Doughty are true :dunno:

So this means that the Senators end up getting a 2019 2nd, a 2020 1st and a 2021 2nd as the picks for Karlsson? Man, that sucks.

Edit:

For anyone too lazy to do the math, that's $11.5 million over 8 years. That's going to age poorly.

So Ottawa gets another 1st or does one of the picks involved turn into a 1st?

No, they get a 2021 2nd from San Jose for Karlsson re-signing. The conditional 1sts didn't hit, Karlsson wasn't traded to an eastern conference team and San Jose didn't make the cup finals last year.

It was a conditional 2nd that would turn into a 1st if the sharks re-signed Karlsson and made it to the SCF. So it’ll stay a 2nd if he indeed does re-sign

I don't know if i'd give EK 8 years, any details or projections on what's being offered?

I always thought the 'rumblings' about him being unhappy there were a bit overblown. I'm curious to see what the contract ends up looking like.

Does a Karlsson extension affect who stays vs. who goes, Sharks fans? Is it more likely now (pending contract terms, of course) that a guy like Pavelski walks?
