Skill and speed is great but most players in the NHL could put up the same number when you have an elite player like Crosby, Malkin and Kessel on each of your top 3 lines. Also its not like Pit is stacked on the wing, him falling down an already weak depth chart shows everything anyone who doesn't follow the team needs to know. Those that do already know what he is and why he isn't that special.

Huh? That's news to us...

*sigh*

If your guy would only be passable with McDavid, we don’t want him there, if at all - and we’re definitely not talking about a defenceman more significant than Russell/Sekera.

RNH had 18 points in 16 games with McDavid. He’s not getting dislodged from his LW anytime soon.

Sheary's scored goals with whoever he's played with. He's got a history of playing well with elite centres, but he still keeps on trucking on a 3rd line with Bonino or Sheahan. It seems to make remarkably little difference to his p/60.

Are you suggesting he is worth a 1st or a high second? If so boy I’m telling you now that is hilariously awful overvaluing for a player that wouldn’t even make the top 6 on good 75% of teams likely even higher.

If Hartman got a late 1st, then clearly players who wouldn't make the top 6 on most teams can get a late 1st.

Tatar returned a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick.

His stats the past two seasons:
25-21-46
16-12-28 (time of the trade)

Sheary's stats over the past couple of seasons:
23-30-53
18-12-30

Tatar's obviously got a better overall resume, but if you compare the two since Sheary played his first full NHL season, their numbers are similar.

Sheary returning a 1st 2nd and 3rd would be hilarious there is a reason people thought McPhee overpaid. Also Tatar got 50 and 45 point seasons on some god awful Detroit teams while Sheary has played for a team that has traditionally been at the top offensively and even then the moment he was away from Sid his point totals plummet massively. He isn’t a special commodity teams line up for.

tatar was quite the overpay and doesn't set the standard for what a middle-6 winger should return

Hartman is younger at 23 vs 26 for Sheary, Hartman is an rfa, has time to grow still with Sheary at this point what you see is what you get and with Hartman already being better him possibly growing into a top 6 player is why he got a first he is a long term asset and block for the Preds not a rental.
