I agree with the sentiment that good teams make their own luck.
The Getzlaf goal in game 2 was lucky, that one I'll admit. But this narrative that every ducks goal scored is luck is dumb. The goal in OT wasn't "pure luck" its players going hard to the net and causing chaos in front of a weak goaltender. Sometimes you get rewarded other times the goalie saves it or it bounces wide. Just because it's not a "pretty goal" doesn't mean it wasn't earned by going to the tough areas.
I don't think so. Stephens who normally doesn't speculate was rather adamant Gibson would start game 4.
Edit: here is the tweet
So I saw on twitter that the last time the NHL had 4 playoff games go to OT on the same day was April 10, 1985. Among those games was the Calgary Flames leading the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 in the 2nd period only to lose to the Jets 5-4 in OT. On that Jets team was Randy Carlyle, Paul MacLean and Brian Hayward.

Dan Wood tweeted (in response to something else) that the Ducks only lost consecutive games in regulation once all year -- the first 2 games of the season. Incredible. What weird year.
The main board series thread is horrible, and not in an entertaining way. It might be my least favorite of all the main series threads there've ever been.
I've stayed away from the playoff board since 2015. The worst of the worst seem to go there and post the most. The most bitter people talk the most and loudest. The good people, the ones who aren't looking to fight, just don't get a chance to discuss hockey in a normal way. It's a big pissing contest, and if their team loses, they want to take as much happiness from the winning team as possible. They want a winning team's fans to feel bad for winning. It's childish, and petty. Like the guy after game 2, who insulted Dawn Wright, because she's the Ducks' anthem singer and they were just grasping at anything to be mean about.
Anyway, end rant.
As a player, Carlyle was on a Winnipeg Jets team with current assistant coach Paul MacLean and Ducks television analyst Brian Hayward that erased a 4-1 deficit in a playoff game.
It was Calgary that lost that April 10, 1985 game by a 5-4 score in overtime, just as the Flames did Monday.
“Maybe I’m just wired a little bit differently,” Bieksa said. “I embrace the challenge. It’s playoff hockey. That’s the only way I can describe it. You’re getting hit. Some are clean, some are dirty. You’re getting hit by all sorts of different kinds of players that usually aren’t as physical during the regular season.
“Unless it’s something seriously wrong, there’s no way I’m coming out of the game for long. Most guys on the team are like that and that’s what makes us such a strong team.”

Mistakes the veteran makes are something he can live with because of the compete level he brings. “All I know is that when he’s on our back end, he’s a competitive guy. He’s a team guy. He’s going to go out and give you what he’s got,” Carlyle said.
“We like Kevin Bieksa,” the coach added. “I don’t care what anybody else says about him, personally.”
Some interesting quotes from this article:
We just need other teams to abuse Kev. Same with Perry. According to Shohara, Perry was hekled BIG time befor the game. And well, he was +5 in a 5:4 OT win
Kev also had a strong game.
But oh boy

3-0, as often as we've done that (4 times? 5 times?), I've always worried that we'll end up being a legendary team that blows it. And that started before 2010 and 2014. 3-0 to me is just a fleeting relief.I'd probably agree. There were more openly hostile ones, if my memory doesn't fool me, but the mere absurdity of this one makes it a bit harder to swallow all the bs. At least we have the 3-0 lead to turn to whenever we get fed up.
Bernier makes me a lot more comfortable than Gibson does, being perfectly honest. If we lose tonight and Gibson is as shaky as he has been, I want Bernier in game 5.
That last quote about loving Bieksa, to me seems aimed at certain fans. Stephens (and Elliott, to a lesser extent) have acted offended on Bieksa's behalf on Twitter lately. I wonder how the question was framed for Carlyle.
