The word is that Pálffy has started summer training with Skalica, do you guys think Hanlon and co. would be interested in him too.....?

No way. He wouldnt make this team even if he have started training half year back. From what i've heard he wasn't even skating this season...

Pálffy & Stümpel for another last hurrah. And then maybe another one in Sochi 2014?

PS: What's the chance that Peter Å ťastný gets a call up? After all it's Slovakia's home tournament. Let's make it a party for every-one!

Statsny has had a huge falling out with Slovak Hockey. I believe he even resigned from Slovakia's Hockey hall of fame. The story was that he called for the resignation for the head of slovak hockey and that exploded in controversy. No Chance. Even his son who is technically eligible to play for Slovakia due to dual citizenship would rather play for team USA had it not been for injury

So the 0% chance of seeing Peter Å ťastný at the WCH drops to -100%.
His son: He isn't even technically eligible to play for Slovakia as he has played for Team USA before. As long as he doesn't decide to wave the NHL goodbye and play in the Extraleague for 4 years, he's not eligible.

After 1st round I see Slovakia as TOP 3-4 contender (behind Canada, Russia - same tier as Sweden and Czechs). Hossa and Gaborik are huge reinforcements on WC.

Sure is nice watching everyone accepting the nomination. So different from other years.

I can't decide who to cheer for today. I want Boston to beat Montreal, on the other hand, if the Bruins lose we're basically able to ice our Olympic team (minus Kopecky, Meszaros and few others) together with our captain Chara.

Slovakia is easily my 2nd favourite hockey nation, and I have no Slovakian in my family tree that I know of.

Just great hockey players who play the right way, skill of Russians with the heart of Canadians

Considering home tournament and the star power, I'd say you are among the favorites. Quality team.
