On his podcast today, Staple said Buch was pretty annoyed that he only got a 15 second “welcome back” video.

Buch never scored over 50 points or did anything notable in the playoffs with the Rangers. Good player with a rebuilding team but its not like some conquering hero was returning.

The unexpected...

Drury sort of makes a statement in the offseason after he took over. Added "Tuff" to the roster. Reaves, Tinordi, Goodrow, Blais.

Fast forward to the 56 game mark...

Trouba leads the club with 6 fighting majors. That's more then Reaves, Goodrow and Tinordi combined.

Deterrence, how does it work?

Nobody wants to fight Reaves because he’d destroy them.

Then we have different ideas of what a player with term on his contract is. I dont want to be in the same mess again in two years and have to move even more of those prospects without having them being restocked without 1st and 2nd round picks. That is the mess that will happen with getting JT. Two deals in two years to solve the same problem. Im not for it.
In two years we're in a different situation. New decisions to make, different prospects to discuss. Maybe we are closer to the time where Trouba moves on, who knows. Why waste two shots at the crown for three years down the road. Assets are to be used. Either on your team or to obtain what you need. We can't use 12 defensemen. Some have to go elsewhere. It's a GOOD thing that they are desireable.

We then become just like Edmonton.

Unable to win because a serious lack of depth
I don't think that would be the case. Rangers would have to find a way to clear another 6M or so in cap room to fit him in, it wouldn't necessitate blowing up the entire roster. It would hurt sure, but it's also Connor McDavid. And we'd still have an elite #1 D and the best goalie in the league, which Edmonton is not even close to having. Plus Panarin and Zibanejad and Kreider still.

Oilers wont trade McDavid for anything less than a package that includes Fox or Igor. Also, they will move Draisatl long before McDavid.

Seriously, it’s not that hard to realize that nobody is fighting or challenging Reaves lmao. Did Martin even look his way the night they played the Isles? Reaves was smiling at the pansy. After he knocked Pezetta’s block off, the only guy willing to dance with him was MacDermid, and that’s because he’s a monster.

Wilson played a straight game, the Caps lost big.

I know Revo isn't handing out retribution, bit he is effecting the locker room as well as acting as a deterrent.

Still lots of games to play and that could change when the ranking gets decided and games at the end of April might not mean as much.

What are the odds Chychrun would be the big move that the Rangers want to do?

Now, Suburban Phoenix. Then, Long Island
Neither is worth the cost. They are rentals thats it. JT is a renta, Giroux is a rental. We deal 3-4 pieces for either one and then in less than two years have to do the same damn thing again to find a real center for this team. So 7 of our prime trade assets and prospects in two years out the door bc we want to make two dumb ass trades instead of one for a piece that fits this team now and the future.

Giroux and JT is a short term fix. We lose those assets going out the door. They are here for a calender year then gone bc we dont have the cap space nor should we sign another 30yo center/winger to a 7yr 7m contract. Its just DUMB
Two playoff runs is worth the cost

The move is to add smart depth that can be kept past this year (Lehkonen like we have all beaten to death. Likely Chytil/Krav + 2nd with either a pick or another depth player from Montreal) and use cap space to gain more assets. The Rangers could be on the cusp of something unprecedented, having good/great team while having a stacked prospect pool.

Then, watch Edmonton fail to make the playoffs cause they are a joke and check in the offseason what the cost for Draisaitl would be. Haha

@Edge you said management was really high on Barron coming into the season. What the heck happened here?
