In case we trade RFAs at the draft, are these fair values?

Blais and Georgie worth 2nd rd picks?

Gauthier and Hajek 4 th rd picks, maybe third rounders?

Georgiev won't be RFA. They have to extend a QO for that to happen and that's simply too risky with the high cap hit.

I think your'e looking at:

Georgiev for a 3rd + 5th

Hajek and Gauhtier for 4th-5th rounders
We aren't getting that for Georgiev. No chance. Every team knows we can't afford to QO him. Why would they trade that much for his rights when they can just wait until he becomes a UFA? If they lose out on him, so be it. There are other options out there.

Maybe there's a team that would be willing to spend a 4th or 5th for his rights, to be sure they can sign him, but I'm not expecting it to happen.

The Rangers can make it work. They could, conceivably, sign Georgiev to a 2 year deal at below his QO, which he may actually take if it means helping him move on to another team.

Carolina got a 3rd for Nedeljkovic when everyone knew Carolina didn't want to pay him $3M. Carolina offered him 1/2 of that.

Nedeljkovic (6-0, 189) was a restricted free agent with arbitration rights who earned $750,000 last season. The Hurricanes reportedly weren’t going to qualify him, fearing he would be awarded too much in arbitration.

There are so many moving parts in the goalie market this summer. Time will tell.

wrote this to my son and nephew, thought it was worth mentioning here
"Drury will get some deserved credit. But imagine if NYR hadn't traded up, just a few spots, in the 1st round, in '18, AND in '20, to grab the guys they wanted: Miller & Schneider. Part of Gorton's true legacy"

Did you see his stats for the 'Canes? Georgiev isn't sniffing that.

ANY pick for Georgiev is a win at this point. He's not getting a 3rd and a 5th. We'd be hitting a home run just getting a 5th.

Georgiev puts up those stats behind Canes D too.

but Carolina knows they can put any one behind their D too.

That’s why they didn’t want to pay Ned and moved him out

His QO was under 1 mil though. They may have worried about him getting more in arbitration than they wanted to pay, but it's a completely different situation with Georgiev. We can't afford him at his QO number and other teams know that.

Playing the waiting game with Nedeljkovic wouldn't have gotten other teams anywhere. Carolina owned his rights and if he went to arbitration, he wasn't going to get enough that Carolina could walk away. The only way for other teams to obtain him was via trade. Teams can just wait until we don't QO Georgiev and then sign him for free.

Nedeljkovic was also coming off a season in which he put up very good numbers. Georgiev, not so much.

Adin Hill brought back a 2nd last year. Hill is a decent goalie. Hill or Georgiev.

SJ has Reimer signed for next season. They have Hill and Reimer signed. SJ also has Kakko Kahkonen who is arbitration eligible. If SJ was sold on Hill, they wouldn't have added Kahkonen at the trading deadline for Jacob Middleton.

There are so many goalies available this summer. The Caps want to add a veteran goalie which makes Samsonov or Vanecek available. Both of them are arbitration eligible.

Fleury wants to play next season. Does Minnesota keep him? Talbot is signed for one more season. Trade Talbot.

Do the Avs keep Kuemper? The Blues have Binnington signed long term and he is playing much better. Husso is a free agent. They can't afford both and Binnington has a big contract. Do the Ducks keep Gibson or trade him?

There are so many free agent goaltenders. They are much older than Georgiev.

If there a team which likes Georgiev and wants to sign him to a contract, he should listen to their offer and that team makes a trade with the Rangers. Easier said than done.
