Buffalo is going to overpay to get Shattenkirk.

Damn shame.

Not sure about that.
Eichel and Foligno are both due for a pay day. It'd be risky throwing 8 million at Shatty long term.
I don't think Shatty signs in Buffalo for less than 8. It'll be us or Jersey

He doesn't have to go to the highest bidder though. But Buff would be a good spot for him. About 5 hour drive from home, young up and coming team, he'd be by far their best defenseman.

I'm still hoping we sign him.

is a bonafide cup contender top 4.

Better than Risto? Maybe right now but that won't last long

that's a pretty big solid from Klein if he does truly retire considering he could probably manage some other way to stick out the last year of his contract on IR if he wanted.

Maybe he decided he just super wants to go play elsewhere and can't without retiring

Nash+ for Galchenyuk/RNH/Wennberg/Duchene would definitely get my attention

I'd hate Nash for Galchenyuk. I really don't see what people like about him, he needs to be catered to in myriad ways to be a useful player. Nash is so much more versatile. RNH/Wennberg/Duchene are different stories, though I think any of them would require a pretty big + with Nash.

Edit: I'd way rather give Thornton a little cash sweetner for a 1 year deal to play with his buddy Nash than trade Nash and another asset for Galchenyuk, or even RNH who isn't so different from the Stepan situation we just got out of.

Hartnell and Pouliot would be fantastic signings. Both add size and a little physicality to the lineup and they can provide secondary offense.

except they're both wingers...

the issue with Shatty has always been whether he'll take a hometown discount for the Rangers or go for the big money

Hartnell, on a 1 year contract, would be fantastic. Something like when we got Prospal on the cheap.

I'd take Pouliot as well, again for a cheap contract though, but I'd prefer Hartnell if we were signing a depth forward.

Richards gave up a bit of cash to come to NY.

Shattenkirk is going to have to give up Salary and term if he wants to play here. I can't see him turning down 7x7+ from NJ or Buffalo if hes only being offered 5x6 from NY.

A bonafide contender top-4 and we traded Stepan. Cup is ours, right? Stepan was holding us back ;)

Could see $6.5 mill for 6 years from the Rangers but yeah that's giving up a significant amount

Can't give Jumbo that much at this point in his career. Just can't do it.
