Was just going to post the same thing.

Looks like Gorts & co. are as high on him as we are. And according to reports he was supposed to be one of, if not THE, best player(s) at prospect camp.

It's confirmed that he's going back to Sweden for the year, right?

Amazing!

No it's not confirmed.

Why would he sign the ELC to go back to Europe?

I think he surprises and makes the team. He's a slower Hagelin who's more of a pest.

If not, he plays in the AHL.

He dominated the prospect camp. Now the question is whether he plays in the AHL this season or next. Pretty sure he's reporting to the Rögele

That was expected but he just signed an ELC with the Rangers.

He doesn't have a contract with Rogele. He signed one with us.

Wont this year be his second of his 2 year deal with them?

Leslie spoke highly of him, and does the ELC slide a year in Europe?

I like it... If he goes to Europe, does the contract slide? When do ELC's kick in? If he's in Hartford, then the clock starts ticking?

The Rangers signed Fast in May of 2012 and he played in Sweden for the 2012/2013 season, but that was a bit different as they would have lost his rights if they didn't get him signed by June 2012.

Maybe they are fine with him playing in Sweden this year, but I don't get the reason to sign him since it's just going to burn a year off his ELC.

Edit: Nevermind, I see BBKers post above mine .

I believe that if he plays less than 10 NHL games this year and stays for the rest in Hartford his ELC contract will slide a year ( a la Anisimov). Will be very interesting to follow him now...

If he doesn't play 10 NHL games this coming season, his ELC slides a year. So him playing in Europe all this season won't hurt the Rangers.

I've been saying he'll probably play in Hartford this year. They didn't bring his buddy Stromwall over to have Kovacs go back to Sweden

Anisimov, Grachev and JT Miller. In this case, Kovacs would be 20 almost the entire season. I'd be hard pressed to call this his age 19 season. As far as the NHL and AHL it is his age 20 season.

Really excited for Kovacs to get on board. I think he's gonna become a fan favorite around here very quickly
