This thread is for discussion of the pros and cons of being a season ticket holder only. Do not buy or sell tickets in this thread.

your rep confirmed for you that you're not? I'm still holding out hope.

Yes, got an e-mail from him similar to the one I recieved last year. However, difference between last year and this year was that my rep last year made it right. He got me tickets. They were scattered around the 400's but I was there. This year i'm not gonna bother. If they make it deep in the third round or SCF i'll make some calls. Don't forget my cousin has 4 seats for the Knicks and Rangers so if I want it bad enough I can get it from him. I also have two individual sources whom I used to buy tickets from and they are always contacting me asking me if I want to buy games regular season and playoffs. So I guess I am good.

Same here.... At what point do you think that season tickets for a regular middle class family will be out of reach?

For a family of four?
Ask yourself how often you can drop:
1. $400 for 4 tickets to a game
2. $60 for RT Train Fare (assume kids get discounted fare)
3. $100 for Refreshements

You're talking around $600 a clip here. Now, how often do you do this? Once per month? Every other month?

I don't know many folks who simply have $2k -$3k discretionary income to take in hockey games a few times a year.

That being written, season tickets cost way more than this, so in reality your question is, "How long can an individual hold on to season tickets, take his family to a few games a year, and be able to sell the rest to recoup the investment?"

I don't know. It's probably a challenge right now, and is only being helped by the good play of the team...

Yeah, even if you subtract most of the RT train fare for people living in NYC and reduce the refreshments by half, and sit in the center upper bowl...you're still talking $346 + $50 or at least $400. How many families would do this even 10-20 times a regular season for 8k-16k?

The prices will keep going up until people stop paying for it. I personally they are increasing at way too much way too quick. Even the "cheap" Monday/Tuesday games are getting expensive now.

At the point that this mythical middle class family can't sell tix at a profit in order to pay for the few games they attend the seasons will be gone.

Are we there yet? IMO:With the new price increases more sections and rows are at that point. When the new data comes in MSG will decide who to go after next year.

In this salary capped league, ownership doesn't need to sell out to remain profitable. They make enough from media rights.

I think ownership won't blink should the team lose and there are empty seats. They'll just keep on truckin' and repackage their offerings (more minis, quarters, and halves) to get people to buy in bulk.

I have to say that new member pricing was really clever. I don't know of any professional sports teams that have done that. The dynamics of season tickets have really changed ever since the secondary market became legalized. SH really woke up the bean counters.

Isles and Nets both do it as well.

1 parent, can bring 1 kid at a time, that lowers ticket cost and transportation costs. Bring the kid for pizza before the game and make it clear you are not buying anything inside the arena.

Very true. But I guess the question remains, how many games is the average season subscriber attending at these prices?

The bottom line is they are the Manhattan Rangers. There are plenty of families who make 200 or 300 thousand dollars a year who will pay the prices. Then the corps fill the lower bowl. The end result is working class families never make it out to the game more than once or twice if at all

They are in the account, but I can't print yet.

I don't see mine yet. I click on account manager and then manage my tickets and all I see for April are the regular season games and the yearbook. I'll give it a few hours then email my rep.

For all those mini plan holders out there they just switched the presale from today at 11am to Wednesday at 11am. Barely an hours notice. Really frustrating since I actually took the morning off to be able to get my computer going to get these tickets. Being a mini plan holder really sucks, zero playoff access besides this presale.

This is really frustrating, I haven't heard anything from my ticket rep about the presale. Usually we atleast get an email. I know I used to get calls about playoff strips 5-6 years ago with the miniplan. Of course those days are long gone and this is all we have left.
