I like Pilut, as a 7-8 dman in Roch. Bryson is a better Pilut. No upgrade here.

Nothing wrong with cheap depth. He could compete for the bottom pairing. Just as long as he's okay with the possibility of spending most of his time with Rochester, where he was really good.
He'd probably be an upgrade over Fitzgerald but stylistically his competition on the Sabres would be Bryson.

Agreed. He'd be an option for the 8 with a little upside and experience with the Amerks and area in general. Bryson has already shown he is a better defensive player.

I want to be 9 deep on the blue line. Should assume 1 2 or 3 will be injured or unavailable at any given point in the season.

Wouldve been interesting to see how Granato wouldve developed him. Hopefully hes willing to battle for his shot like Ruotsalainen. He could take Bryson's role going forward, but I think Bryson is a pretty good player, especially since he can play the right side too.

He did get a one way offer from the Sabres. His agent rushed him into signing with the KHL team rather than wait for the Sabres counter offer.

No issue with bringing him in for a year, for a shot, and let him at least play in the AHL. There are "worse things"; but I do agree that he's no guarantee at all to make the NHL. Even on our shitty roster

"nothing turd"? he was a sneaky good Dman, had a great stick and knew how to body position, theres a reason some saw Enstrom-lite in his game, also a great up-ice passer. I'd love to see him under Granato and he for sure would be worthy competition to Bryson/6/7.

He seemed to make a lot of errors, even in the instances where he found players who could be useful later like Danforth or Blackwell (or perhaps Pilut), he just bled value be it talent or draft picks out of every pour.

I'm fine with him getting a one-way contract. Not like it's my money.
In games that matter, ie once we get to the playoffs, he always seemed too small physically to really make a difference.
