With that said, the draft lottery will be conducted today but will not be announced until tomorrow or Thursday.

How this works:


Lets say #1 gets pulled first and wins 1st overall, you then remove their 12 balls from the pool, leaving 34 remaining thus bumping up the odds for everyone else in the next draw.

This gives everyone a chance to move up or down, but its weighted. So, #1 shouldn't end up last and #8 should not end up first.

I assume the rule this season is still 50 regardless of whether you want to change it or not?
Perfectly fine if you want to change it for next season, but we should finish the season with the same set of rules if we can, IMO.

Not to say that a rule change isn't for the better but I've always thought to respect the original guidelines... at least until a season is complete or unless it's a totally unbalanced/unfair rule that needs an immediate fix (aka Avery Rule)

You keep all prospects. However, if one of your prospects has already played one game, he will be safe until he hits 50 games; if you do not pick him up at that time anyone can pick him up in FA.

If your prospects have not played an NHL game yet, they are your property until they play 100 NHL games. If you do not bring the up to your roster at that time, anyone can pick them up. (new rule)

Confirming this rule change. As already stated, prospects who have already played NHL game will still be under the 50 Game rule. Prospects who have not yet played an NHL game will now remain prospects until the 100 game mark.
