I get what you're saying but I think it applies more to guys like Versteeg who are more likely to turn the puck over in a bad spot than actually make something positive happen when they get cute trying to dipsy-doodle. Panarin is clearly a level above that and much more capable of making these plays on a more consistent basis.
I really enjoyed this article breaking down how goals are actually scored.
We're very fortunate to have Kane, TT, and now Panarin - guys capable of making these "royal road" plays. I wouldn't want to stifle any of their creativity.
