What really kills me with that proposal is the inclusion of Nolan Foote like he tips the scales in any way.
In reality the Sens would be getting 3 quality pieces, just not the pieces they would want.
Even though we've seen it so many times recently, this place is still adamant that Holtz is most certainly a bust and will never be any better than he was this year. Kinda like how this place convinced itself that Sharangovich wasn't getting qualified and Calgary was stupid to trade Toffoli for him.
I've had discussions and there likely needs to be 1 higher quality asset.
For example from a discussion I had with a Sens fan:
Top 5 pick+John Marino for their right D needs.
I think our 2025 1st+Holtz could potentially get us up to 5, but who knows.
I would offer:
NJD 2024 1st+2025 1st+2026 1st, or whatever that looks like in equivalent value. imo I'd rather have Casey and Holtz than the 25 and 26 picks.
But frankly going after ANOTHER winger isn't a need. If we hadn't traded for Meier, sure, I'd be all in on Tkachuk (if available) with the assets we traded for Meier+ another 1st.
But we don't need Tkachuk.
We need an LD like Marcus Pettersson, who can play 20+ minutes, take the load of siegs (so we don't need to be dependent on him bouncing back) and luke, PK, play with Marino, and fire an accurate breakout pass (Kevin Bahl and Smith cannot).
A goalie should be a target, but imo if we can fix the D and bottom I'd be fine running it back with Kahkonen/Allen/Daws/Schmid similar to how Carolina operates.
