After all the Lucic based rumours...

I wish we could’ve got Hoff for him

We’re officially the biggest joke in the leagues

Evander Kane, Hoffman.

The Sharks must be the new dumping ground for delinquents
If the rest of the league wants to send us more top 6 forwards for peanuts, I'll take that all day. If you guys want to give us your dirt bag in Kadri for Tierney, let's do it!

No you couldn’t. Boedker is an established middle-6 forward on a very nice contract that saves $1M in real dollars, which is valuable to a budget team like Ottawa. Lucic’s contract is the NHL’s worst.

Ottawa had to trade Hoffman no matter what's going on with Karlsson. If Karlsson stays or if he's traded, Hoffman had to go.

Ottawa just won't be a place where Hoffman can play, either way.

It was a highly overpaid 2nd line RW, for a young #3 centre with some upside, hardly that bad. The failure in that trade was not going after a PAP or Vanek afterwards, who would have replaced most all of Ebs' production for half the price.

Averaging 25 goals and 50 to 60 points for $6M is not "highly" overpaid. Not even close actually.

Also Pap couldn't even make the Wings roster this year... he's not replacing anyone's production.

Next season will remind Ottawa of the middle of the 90s all over again.Craig Anderson will be the new Craig Billington?

Heatley 2.0. Pretty weak return again for the Sens while losing a high quality scorer. How is it Ottawa seems to always been on the losing end of these situations? Something in the water over there?

Dorion failed when he didn't trade Hoffman midseason and now he failed again when he didn't first trade Karlsson. Hoffman is a good player, but trading for him means you are out of Karlsson sweepstakes. SJ has Burns and Vlasic locked in long contracts so they were one of the few willing to forgo Karlsson and trade for Hoffman. As a result they made out like bandits. Boedker while a decent player is overpaid.

Had Dorion traded Karlsson first he would have gotten more for Hoffman. Now he traded Hoffman for garbage and he will still lose Karlsson in a year.

... Or maybe he sees trading Hoffman as extending an olive branch to Karlsson to keep him around.

Probably not happening, but he'd be an idiot not to try everything to keep Karlsson around before trading him.

Prediction: Joe Thornton and Brent Burns shave their beards and donate them to Locks of Love. While being shipped, the hair sets on fire and is a total loss.

Hoffman's girlfriend makes fun of Burns and Jumbo and says cancer patients don't deserve hair, because she just seems that trashy. In the middle of the scandal, it's discovered that Kane is banging Hoffman's girl on the side and stands by her, so Burns takes a page out of Buff's playbook and chucks his track suit in the shower.

... Then, SJS signs one locker room cancer to take care of another and signs Slava Voynov to shut up Hoffman's girl.

And just in case you think that's awful or in bad taste... All these things actually have happened with these players.
