I think Broberg and a 1st is what everyone wants, dunno if it's realistic but Oilers need to go all in so might as well squeeze em

Anything more than a 1st for Ekholm is insane. His contract is pretty big for his age. We could get Chychrun for Broberg and a 1st whose cheaper younger and better than Ekholm
If you think you are gettin Chychrun for that you aren’t paying attention to the current trade market. Edmonton is going to have to pony up big time for him.

HF: Insane proposals

Real world: Ekky ends up going for something less than average HF proposal

HF: Steal! Wizardry!

There is ZERO chance that Holland trades Broberg. He was Holland's first pick, he's been developed properly and the advanced stats at the NHL level suggest that he's arrived.

Bouchard on the other hand... is an RFA this summer and has struggled a bit in his own end. He could be traded, it all depends on the contract expectations and the return on the other side.... it would need to be a guy that you credibly think is better now and will continue to be for 2-3 seasons at least (Karlsson, Ekholm, Chychrun.... NOT Edmunston).

I feel like its gonna end up with Bourgault

You could do worse... I like Bourgualt in the limited time I've seen him. Not likely to be a one-dimensional guy IMO.

Preds:
Ekholm (25% retained)
Sissons

Oilers:
2023 1st
2024 1st
Broberg
Puljujarvi

Zero chance

Desharnais was crap last night. The defense is not good or they wouldn't be giving up 5 goals a night. They need defemsive defensmen
Desharnais is a rookie who makes less than $800K who is playinga s the team's 7th defenseman and did not cost a 1st to bring up from Bak. He has played 16 games and has been on the ice for 4 GA 5 vs 5. Replacing him with Edmundson, which is in effect what you would be doing since they probably still go 7-11 is hardly going to change the team's fortunes especially since even with significant retention it would mean an even tighter cap situation. If they want to upgrade defensively they are way better off using the assets on Ekholm who can legitimately take a load off Nurse.
It meets the supposed asking price from poile (2 1st - a pick plus Schaefer plus manageable cap ballist to make it work). Kulak could be flipped elsewhere if we didnt want to keep him. Wouldnt be my ideal return but seems to fit the criteria of what poile wanted. Question is will edmontons gm do it? He seems to horde his 1sts
Holland is definitely under pressure to make a bigger move. It has been reported that Katz will be at the scouting meeting which is a sure sign that this is not business as usual since he is generally very hands off.

You got two world class players in their prime and so far most of his moves have been window dressing at best and campbell at worst. Katz might have to force him

Grier is single-handedly screwing up this situation.

Or see what the other dozen or so contending teams would offer?
No, he Karlsson situation is an anomaly for Grier. No contending team can afford rhe whole cap, because they are close to the cap, 11,5 is insanity for a 30 year old, and then adding a lot of assets like 2 1sts?? and no contending / building/ middle teams dont want to give away firsts for a 11,5 player that destroys their future room and flexibility. The contract alone destroys the whole flexibility that bubble team has.

Bob Stauffer who is an employee of the team, and who is one of their radio guys, as uncharacteristically come out and almost shamed the Oilers into going big. Almost all of the local media has been beating the "Future is Now" mantra. This is really rare in Edmonton. And it should be 100% clear that a late first is not going to help the team on the ice before big decisions by Draisaitl and McDavid are upcoming. Add in that teh West is more up for grabs than anytime in the last decade and if Holland does little the only thing that would keep him in his spot would be a deep playoff run. So he can horde those picks but there is a real chance he would not be around to make them. He will be kicked up stairs.

1) It’s Edmundson.

2) You’re currently in a thread based entirely on two tweets by Dreger. They were literally minutes apart. You’ve already been told this, and you know it, yet you continue this “circling back” and “something wrong” stuff that was never in the tweets this thread was created for. It got super old the first time, let alone a day later.
Oh for sure the ask on Ekholm had to leave Oilers stuttering on their end of phone. For them to circle back and express an interest in Edmunston knowing the extend of his back injury. Plus Ekholm caphit going to be a problem too. Oilers going to have to move a third asset to absorb his 6.5 million. Or offer Nashville a third first to retain?

We played Oilers last week, they appeared soft with weak netminding. They need multiple moves to get past Colorado.

Goaltending has been a big issue all year. It has been inconsistent. When it has been good the Oilers have been tough to beat.

They are not really a soft team when fully healthy. If you add in Kane and Kostin the complexion changes a lot.

I definitely think he'd get more than a 5th right now.
I don't know. He's been out twice for long stretches with a back injury. We've seen our team doesn't look good with him in the lineup, and an analytics guy was just on tsn690 saying how bad Edmundson's analytics numbers are this year compared to last. For example, there's a 30% chance we score when he's on the ice versus a 70% chance we get scored on. He said those are unplayable in the pkayoffs numbers...it's not just the eye test. He hasn't been the Edfie of last season and he can't stay healthy.

If you were a GM of a contender trying to load up for the playoffs so you don't get knocked out in the 1st round, what would you give up for a guy that might not even be in the lineup come playoff time?

If they think he's healthy, they'll make a move. I don't think it's a big move, but a 5th would never get it done.
