Right. That's what I pencil him in for. That's over $13M in cap out.virtanen doesnt have a contract but he is expected to make around 3 mil

I actually liked Myers himself. Contract isnt great and he might be paid a bit here and there but his length, skating and abrasiveness brings something to the Canuck D core that is non existent from others.
For example, Alex Tuch was absoloutely demolishing the Canucks the 1st few games in the Vegas series. Myers comes back and gets tasked to shadow Tuch's line and Tuch went invinsible the rest of the way.
He does well with these bigger guys. Short , agile zip zap players for sure give him trouble tho.
Except OEL can actually play hard minutes unlike Barrie or Krug or whoever is plan B.I'm dubious about the "screw actual defenders like Tanev, we'll just have offensive d-men back there" approach as it didn't really work so hot for Toronto last season.

Man, a guy on a bad team with terrible goal differentials who plays a lot of minutes was a minus player. I would have never thought. He can play them, but his advanced metrics are pretty terrible and he's been a minus player for like 7 straight years. He's not exactly a defensive powerhouse.
Yea, Myers is still a useful guy, just paid too much. But if Tanev isn't back I wouldn't be surprised to see him become Quinn's full-time D partner next season.

That's because he draws a penalty if he sneezes their way.I actually liked Myers himself. Contract isnt great and he might be paid a bit here and there but his length, skating and abrasiveness brings something to the Canuck D core that is non existent from others.

Like the 2016-17 Coyotes who scored 197 goals and allowed 260? And he ate almost 25 minutes a night and was -Maybe a big part of the reason they have a bad goal differential is because he's not so great on the defensive side of the puck.
Like even when the Coyotes played a full on trap system, he was still a minus player.

I don't think there's any one in the world that thinks Krug or Barrie play less sheltered minutes and do more with them. But you're free to think whatever you want? I don't have to sell you on anything. You aren't the GM. This board isn't a negotiation platform for a deal we're making....you’re working very hard to convince us to take! That’s probably the biggest red flag!

I think there would have to be a lot of values in futures to make it worth it to eat Myers. And any talk of OEL's contract being too high or long would be immediately over.
You have to get a little crazy to get a deal done anyway. But there are ways to move money and still maximize value to AZ that leave the Canucks set up for a nice little run, imo.
You guys are just stuck on "They'll take Eriksson and scraps and like it" because Kesler burned you in a completely different scenario.
I'm just giving you my opinion on why Vancouver isn't getting a "third pairing PP specialist" for Juolevi, a third, and Eriksson... I think you should probably expect that Benning is offering more.then why the hard sales pitch from you?

just heard the Dhalliwal segment on TSN.
He says he is starting to get text messages and info that the OEL situation will get done tonight.
He thinks Stecher wasnt qualified to save that 2.5 mil and Canucks are trying hard to fit OEL and Markstrom.
looks like lots can happen tonight
Dammit Benning! We’re a few seasons away from all these bad contracts expiring and here he is trying to add another one that lasts for 7 years!
OEL is a legit top pair Dman and will be no worse then Edler is today in last year of the deal. The cap though not great is not that bad either. Guy can play and would much rather have him than foundational pieces like Sutter, Beagle etc that Benning would spend the money on anyway if no OEL.Dammit Benning! Unlike those contracts, this one is a top pairing defender.
