a few morning after thoughts;

..i've been hard on bonino offensively, and he has been non existent. but last night he had three great plays on those goals.
..good to see josi back on track offensively.
..all of a sudden turris has as many points as arvidsson. out of no where it seems.
..sissons. first couple of games i thought this might be his year offensively. then nothing for ten games, now this.
..wilson always seems dangerous against us.
..girard is gonna be a great point man
..we really shut down there top line.
..good teams with great lines can sure give our third pairing trouble on the road. we broke our necks to get them off when that happened
..admittedly rinne sort of got bailed out on those two goals. of course he made the critical tough saves in the first when we needed him most.
..it is becoming painfully obvious arvidsson makes that first line go.
..fiala. he is still overtrying horribly. he has to score a few goals soon to settle down. right now he's hurting us wherever we put him.
..i like hartman. we need his physical play.
..our 4th line had some good shifts.
..only 3 shots from our top line all night.
..our forecheck was awesome early. really disrupted COL.
..even strength we have been amazing. but we cann't keep giving up a goal or more every game on the PK.

i agree trig. part of our problem is how every team has adjusted to the 'drop back' pass entry we always use. so many teams now use it that PK's have adapted to it and are only softly attacking the lead puck carrier and waiting on the drop back pass man. our zone entries are killing us.

I would be ok with scrapping the rule as well. The thing I hate most about it is that on just about every Preds goal, my first reaction, at least in the back of my head is "I hope we weren't offsides". I almost am conditioned to delay celebrating and being happy about the goal.

I especially hate it when play continues for minutes after the offsides and the puck even leaves the offensive zone before the disallowed goal is scored.
I recognize that reaction and it takes something from the experience, I admit. Perhaps it could be a War Room Only thing? Much like War Room can signal that puck has crossed the goal line even if the refs didn't blow the game dead? Too complicated?

I'm thinking War Room reacts only on obvious cases and leaves most of it to the refs and human error.

While it's tough and I'd sure be somewhat bitter about it, I'd accept a game 7 loss by an offside goal if it's one of those you zoom for 10 minutes to find a pixel wide white line in the video and if it's somewhat consistent throughout the season, but I sure as hell don't want to lose a game 7 by a Duchene Offside Goal, not when we have the technology to prevent that.

If I was responsible for defending the Preds PP I'd happily risk a 5 on 3 in my D zone. (If down a goal or two in the 3rd period)

I would have the fourth defender at center ice or the opposite blue line.

Just hang out and wait for the inevitable clear so I could have a one on one with the goalie.

Probably a dumb idea though, even against or PP.

Any time the Preds got an odd man rush I would 100% instruct my players to hook, slash, trip whatever is needed to break up the rush and "risk" the 2 min penalty.

So.. what would you give up for Mark Stone from Ottawa? He is on the final year of a $7.35 Million contract which will make him an UFA after the season.

Not that I'm saying we should or shouldn't do it but, about Stone, I wonder what his relationship with Turris is like as far as chemistry and whatnot.

Avs game plan clearly called for being extra physical and edge of the envelope— not Ducks dirty but it didn’t look like Hawks or similar. I think it is a tactic we will see more given the Jets series last year but don’t think it is particularly effective and not what I would take away from that series as a key tactic. Although given our record, teams are likely to try a variety of approaches against us to see what sticks.

Personally I thought we kinda looked like the Ducks during the Avs series last year. I didn't hate it but I wouldn't have called our style clean either.

I am into math and the two bolded +/- numbers can not both be correct, unless a minus is counted as a zero in the total. It should be 43.

The PIMs that are shown add up to 95.

Why did you omit the first 2 seasons? Is it because he only played 23 games total in those years? With that data included, the numbers work out.

I would give up Fiala and Irwin. They have to take both of them!

Yes I deleted the first two seasons because they didn’t amount to much.

If Fiala and Carrier is all it would take to get Stone, you take that and run. If he signs a new deal with us, that is a heck of an upgrade in my opinion. A 2nd line of Stone, Turris, and Smith is top tier

Yeah you dont trade Fiala for a rental. That's how we got Forsberg.

A few differences like Stone is 26 and really productive. Agreed though an extension would have to be agreed to first.

Fiala and Carrier are not getting you Stone though not even close

If stone extended I'd do Fiala, carrier and a 1st. I might even do Fabbro instead of Carrier. Problem is Ottawa is cheap so they would probably want Tolvanen instead of Fiala.

I'd consider Tolvanen IF there's an extension in place. If not, no dice.

yeah f*** it. we are in win in the next 2-4 years mode. by the time eeli hits his prime theoretically, we could be looking at a completely different direction of our beloved preds. although i would hate to trade tolvanen with the notion he isn't as good as we thought. thats reeks of erat for forsberg. very similar when you consider they both dropped a lot in the draft.
