According to KCBS radio tonight, he was swimming and called for assistance. He was unresponsive and had no pulse when pulled from the lake. He was revived and sent to a medical center in Reno. As of tonight, he had emerged from a coma, and was responding.

I sorta understand the Sandoval one. He might get some people in the seats in a lost season. I don't get the Carter one at all.

There really isn't anything to lose for the team to do it since it's a minor-league deal and since they're not paying him anything substantial, it's fine. It's just not going to mean anything because he's too far gone.
