I dissapointed about it. We could draft Akhtyamov with better stats history. With positive stats stability. He is playing now and playing in better challenge place. And Akhtyamov is younger.

So the Vatanen trade potentially got us a good middle 6 player in Kuokannen and the top rated north American game prospect in Daws. I hope Daws pans out and plays behind Blackwood for a bit potentially challenging him for the #1 spot. This can be an awesome trade that we soured on back in March.

We could end up with Vats again since he's still out there....

Of it’s my decision I’m only in for a two year deal at most and only if it is cheap enough they won’t feel compelled to play him if Smith emerges on RD. I wouldn’t give him much in the way of trade protection. I like what Vats brings as a player and his competitive nature which would be good for a young team and if the team was competitive would think he’d be a great third pair guy who could play up at times. As it stands though we can’t have guys the team feels it is paying too much to sit them with the potential to block Smith or Bahl as they develop and need sheltered minutes to start.

Like the pick....I hope they take one every draft if its bpa on their board.....The Rangers are stock piling goalies the way its going you need two really good ones now with the backups playing more and more each year.....

Fantastic.

But as I asked in another thread, why did he have such a poor season in a D league?

The DEL is not a D league. It's worse than the NHL, KHL, SEL and AHL for sure, but it's unclear to me where it ranks after that - Finland, Switzerland, and the Czech league are all pretty close to it. It's clearly superior to the ECHL.

That said, he played 10 games. Anyone can have a poor 10 games, or have 1 or 2 bad games ruin their statline.

Stutzle, Reichel, and Peterka were all drafted out of the DEL last year, I could be wrong on this, but I believe it's seen as a league on the rise. I wouldn't worry about it too much. He could have also played behind a poor defense.

Yeah DEL is good league. KHL of course the best and then SHL but after that it is very close. Best SHL teams would propably make to playoffs in KHL and propably also from Liiga and maybe even from DEL and NLA.
