Is Shero going to take Hughes or opt for whoever the big defensive center with middle six upside is?
I think Kakko is the better player. I just do not see them taking him though.

Remember that NJ actually won the lottery when they drafted Larsson? They just couldn't move all the way up to 1st back then.
Just light forum trash talk. Hischier is a very very good player. I don’t think he is in the same tier as some recent number one picks, but he was a good pick.
Great, another gloating Hawks fan. NJ has won 2 of the last 3 lottery's for being, you know... terrible. View attachment 211699 . Last year was the exception.
They actually moved up 4 spots. The most you could move up back then was 4 spots. They moved up from 5 to 4...funny thing is them and the Isles took the worst two guys as of today in the top 8.
Could have picked Heiskenen, Makar, or Pettersson.Well to be honest, that draft wasn't as strong as this upcoming one.
Nico and Patrick were essentially the Best of the rest, so to speak.
Could have picked Heiskenen, Makar, or Pettersson.
Well they were taken 3/4, it's not like they were off the board lolYeah but were either of those three Top Pick worth AT THE TIME?
Sure...it's nice to play the hindsight game(and I still like what Nico has done as a Devils player) but still....
Puck moving defenseman that nobody ever heard before. Is Shero going to take Hughes or opt for whoever the big defensive center with middle six upside is?
Might have missed it but why was this so extremely early? Usually it takes place in late May/early June right?
Except they wouldnt have done that because Hischier or Patrick were the two best picks at the timeCould have picked Heiskenen, Makar, or Pettersson.
Neither one of them was a clear top talent. It was a weak draft at the top.Except they wouldnt have done that because Hischier or Patrick were the two best picks at the time

I mean the Avs went from 1st to 4th after a 48 point season, and it was a blessing in disguise.
Hughes-Hischier-Zacha down the middle will be one of the top center-lineups in the league somedayI have been just overlooking the squads of New Jersey and New York and frankly these teams needed a big boost....granted their were worse teams but these 2 squads going forward did not have a lot going for them in terms of prospects...the fact is these 2 teams were going nowhere....this helps even things out a bit...granted though I am still very upset my team didn't get a future stud like Kakko or Hughes!!!
I don't know what to make of Hischier yet....of course he is very young and could still explode....he is analogous to my Flyer's Nolan Patrick....I don't know what to make of him yet either.....though both are still very young..Hughes is a beaut for sure....Hughes-Hischier-Zacha down the middle will be one of the top center-lineups in the league someday
Hischier had a down year because the entire team had a down year, and still almost hit 50 while being very reliable defensively. Hischier was going to be our 1C for the future and now can be our 2C and thrive that much more.I don't know what to make of Hischier yet....of course he is very young and could still explode....he is analogous to my Flyer's Nolan Patrick....I don't know what to make of him yet either.....though both are still very young..Hughes is a beaut for sure....
He's got talent for sure. I liked Kakko better, but he probably fit in with the Avs better than he would in New Jersey. Hughes size worries me, but if he can be dynamic enough to not get crushed every game, he should be a good 1c in a few years.Hischier and Patrick were the clear two top talents at the time.
Either way Hughes is the undisputed 1 overall so NJ will gladly take him
His skating is the best since McDavid so I doubt his size is a problem. Besides he clearly is late in terms of puberty, kid will be another beast in a few years time. Kane was the same size in a more unforgiving timep -period for small forwardsHe's got talent for sure. I liked Kakko better, but he probably fit in with the Avs better than he would in New Jersey. Puberty? He's 18 lol he's small and will always be small. He will not always be 160 pounds soaking wet so give me a break with that lol.Puberty? He's 18 lol he's small and will always be small. Like I said, if he can be dynamic enough to not get crushed, he will be a good 1c in a few years ago.
They are dynamic players. He will not always be 160 pounds soaking wet so give me a break with that lol.
Explain to me how Kane Gaudreau Marner and Kucherov all fair with their size as drafted players
Lmao fair enough thenThey are dynamic players.
Hopefully lol he looks like he's 13Lmao fair enough then
I concur with your assessment , yes his skillset looks to be that level of dynamic so he shall fare well from the start. Hell also gain 8-10 pounds before October most likely
