Agreed. Maybe it's because people saw Vegas be so competitive so quickly in 2018 after an expansion draft but I lean on the side of the league's talent gets watered down with more teams. There aren't all these extra players good enough for the NHL, it's already hard enough to be a NHL regular or impact player.

This'll probably mess up a team's ability to build through the draft as well as the few hits in each draft year are going to be even harder to come by. 34 & 36 teams is nuts, that's an injection of 50-100 players into the league that previously wouldn't have made it. On top of the 50 or so players we've added since 2018 Lots and lots of very mediocre teams. The league is probably too big with 32 IMHO.

The Hawks will be ok because we're a huge market but I don't think this is good for the on ice product. Time will tell.

I mean, the bright side is, the more they expand, the more you get to see guys putting up 100+ point seasons. Lol. It's not a coincidence this started happening again after 2018.

League wide sv% the last three years including this one has been .904, .904, and .907. Can't imagine that getting much better bringing in 4-6 more goalies previously not good enough for the NHL.

Bedard will be a regular 70 goal scorer though so that's cool.

Just a weird era for goalies. Look at a hypothetical Canadian Olympic team today and tell me who you have in net and it's the weakest crop they've had in decades.

It makes the stars really look like stars. It waters down the product but more hockey is best hockey.
The 2007-2017 era in the NHL was my favorite. Teams felt stronger and more effective. 19 guys last season had 90+ points, 11 had 100+. 19 guys had 40+ goals. I'm not sure if it's better or just different.

Kane's 106 point season was a monster year back in 2015/16, seeing all these guys put up 100 points now doesn't feel right for some reason.

The aughts and early teens really showcase what f***ing monsters Ovi and Sid were in their primes. Whether or not Ovi catches Gretz he's the greatest goal scorer I've ever seen.

Somebody apparently stole a few thousand Jagr bobbleheads en route to Pittsburgh.

Going to raise more than a few red flags once there's a sudden flush of bobbleheads available on eBay.

I’ve adopted the Sabres as my 2nd team at this point. One of my best friends is from buffalo and they are on detroits tail atm playing some good hockey!

Good start today! Feels like a playoff game.

Torts being Trots, LOL

Will be interesting to see if Torts gets boot

I would get rid of him but he was riding high on Flyers strong start. If Flyers miss playoffs there is no reason Briere should not fire him. He inherited him

A playoff appearance may be disastrous for Flyer fans as management/ownership may not want change in that scenario

Definitely what you want the guy you named captain 34 days ago saying to the media. Jeeeezus.

I mean we talk about accountability here all the time. This is what it looks like, even if it is your newly named captain.

Couturier has played like shit for months, that’s why this is happening.

Yeah, I'm sure Nic Deslauriers, Olle Lycksell, and Adam Ginning will provide them with more than what a shitty Couturier would bring, in a playoff like matchup, needing points to make the playoffs.
