Florida should have kept Marchessault and Smith and Gallant LOL.

Marchessault didn't exactly have a history of being a point producer before last year though, so I kind of understand them not wanting him.

Not like they need the picks either, right? Aren’t they loaded with picks in the next few drafts?
not next year, They have a first, second, fourth, 2 5ths and 2 6ths.

however, the following year they have first, 3 seconds, 2 thirds, fourth, 2 5ths, sixth and seventh

Vegas won't trade him, why would they now that they're in a playoff hunt?

they should look to trade him. yes they are doing good this year but thinking they are a contender and keeping pieces they should be selling is going to hurt this team in the next few years.

mcphee needs to continue to build their pipeline with young talent if he plans to kickstart them into having continued success

they already cost themselves a legit shot at dahlin which would've helped them tremendously. sure anything can happen with the lotto but still they should've been at the bottom of the nhl. it hurts them double so because expansion teams typically have about a 2-3 year grace period when they start and are bad people will still go to games expecting them to lose. now? the fans are experiencing winning right off the start and will expect it constantly. if the team falters in years 2-3 fans will bail

The second and fourth rounders they might get for Marscheault aren’t gonna make or break their future building, especially with all the assets McPhee piled up in that sham of an expansion draft. Plus they should try to sign him anyway, he’s what 27-28? Not like he’s some 35-year old stopgap. They can always pick up a third rounder for his rights next offseason if it comes to it.

Plus what kind of message does that send to the players busting their butts, to the fans? You need to build some goodwill with a new fanbase and not go all Sixers when you have a shot to make history.

They traded him to get rid of Reilly Smith’s contract more than anything else lol, but yeah the Panthers are a joke organization.

Will it matter? How many of those seats and suites are owned by casinos? I don't know the answer to that.

but that was the whole plan from the get. sell what pieces you can at the deadline and build the team for the future. the msg to the players? bust your butts you will get dealt to a contender and will earn a big contract. your kidding yourself if you think the players went into this thinking vegas was going to be their team for the long haul. some yes but not all of them.

also you can't compare the sixers an established franchise that has been around and tank and sell off as opposed to a first year franchise which is/was expected to not be good. basically what vegas is doing right now is using up all of their fanbase "goodwill" and now will expect them to constantly be at the top of the standings and playing good. which is fine then owners have to commit to building a win now franchise. don't turn around next year after making the playoffs this year (maybe) and start selling pieces off at the deadline when they are out of it. what will the fans think of that?

the players had no choice in the matter whether they were picked by Vegas so I have no idea how you think their mindset is what you said.

I forgot though, you were the one that always wants to tank so that makes sense.

lol sooooooooooooooooooooooooo let me ask you then.

you get taken in the expansion draft by vegas. is your assumption that if you play well you will be dealt by that expansion club for pieces to build their future or that you are going to be part of their long term plan to stay there and build the franchise around?

knowing you are the dodger i won't expect a reply its ok.

my guess is you skipped over the key part where i said SOME will be part of the long haul and others WON'T. you gotta read all the way through. its ok though i know you try to catch me

pretty sure i never said to tank. but i do remember you were the one that wanted shatenkirk here at what was it? 7 years 50 million?

I have absolutely no idea? It depends on the player. Every situation is different. Did Fleury think that he is going to be dealt for futures? Probably not. Did James Neal, a pending UFA, think that? Yes, probably. Though I bet Vegas wants to sign him long term now.

so again, no idea what your point is. As usual.

KEep bringing up Shattenkirk though, unprovoked. Tell me more about how we should just tank this season....remember when you were telling me that this summer? Yea, hows that working out?
