You guys ever look back and feel bad for a player like Zach?

He really has had just s rough go at it since he left. Career took a bit of a nosedive.

A little bit. I miss watching him play consistently, a real heart and soul player with some good skill. Fun to watch and a shame injuries have plagued him so much. Though that's just the price you pay when you play the style he does and that he's relatively small.

Plans for the new islanders arena in Belmont have been leaked. Areana looks nice, obvs not many details have been released since the didn't officially win the bid for Belmont. It's gotta be better then barclays though with less obstructed seats and NO car

I'm not really surprised he's fallen off so much. The way he played for so many years is just not conducive to a lengthy career. I feel bad in that he'll probably never get to go out on his own terms, but he also got a shitload of money, so it's hard to feel too bad for him. I don't have any bitterness towards him anymore though. Knowing how things played out I'm glad he chose Minnesota over us.

Mike Keenan was fired by the KHL team he was coaching, Bobby Carpenter taking over.

Moulson was a PP specialist, but couldn't really do anything else. He benefited from playing with Tavares for a couple of years

I'm surprised he didn't benefit from some of the top end guys that Buffalo has though. That team may have a lot of problems, but with Eichel there, lacking an elite forward is not one of them.

Ya, but Eichel isn't a bum, he'll pick it back up eventually. I guess Moulson was too much of a passenger to be able to create something himself while Eichel is off.

Moulson played 14 games and was on the ice for exactly 0 goals scored. At least at even strength. Maybe he was on for a power play goal, but he had 0 points. Jacob Josefson even has 2 in fewer games played.

I just saw that Moulson’s on-ice shooting percentage was 0.0% on the season. That was confirm zero goals at even strength. He’s been bad for almost 3 years now. He was good for a season without Tavares and then still a 40 point guy the next season. He’s scored 21 and 32 points in the last two seasons, while playing 81 games in both years. And 0 points in 14 games this year. He’s got another year left on his deal after this. Talk about falling off a cliff.

Wow  laying the hammer down.

I kinda hope they show up and win it all as a neutral non-existent country. Because even if they did, Russia would still be in the record books without a gold medal.

That article does say players who have shown strict adherence to drug testing in the past can petition to compete in neutral uniforms. But 1) that'd be much harder at the level of a sport that has a large team competing, more so for individual competitions and 2) the whole point of Olympics to represent your country, I don't know how many Russians would be open to competing in a blank uniform.

...also I wouldn't be surprised if the Russian sports committee doesn't allow it's athletes to go compete as a "neutral" competitor.

Poor Kalinin, he made team Russias roster :naughty:

Can’t they still compete as a neutral team?

That may end up having a ripple effect with the KHL refusing to allow any of it's players to leave for the Olympics.

We may truly end up seeing an (almost) amateur hockey tournament in that case.

Which would be fine by me for the most part. Players like Gionta and Iginla could be shoe-ins now.

It would basically end up being WJC team + some extra college players like Ted Donato's son + some Finnish/Swedish league USA players + old retreads like Gionta.
