And one makes 7m and the other makes 4.5m as well.

This is JVR. A 50 points pp1 specialist. Because of his D and speed you have 2 issues. 1) You cannot pair with a slower C. JVR and Hayes pairing was not effective as Hayes with Laughton. 2)You cannot play against other teams 1st line. (and I am still mad AV put JVR on the ice v Barzal line with under 1 minute and blew the game).Doesn't make him a bad player but not a 7m player. Next year with Konecky elevated to pp1, JVR's stats probably go down more next year. I am more than happy going with a JVR/Frost/Kubel 3rd line next year and attacks the other teams 3rd/4th line. Could you trade JVR and take close to equal money back? Of course. If Flyers retained 2m a year does the market get wider? Absolutely. Would a NJ trade NYI 2021 2 for him straight up for whole 7m when they can just go out and pay for Mike Hoffman in f/a? I really really doubt it.

Ghost's value if you ask 10 people has 10 different values. If trading for... 1) Ghost's knee has to be healthy. 2) You are playing Ghost on pp1. 3) Your ED D players aren't great. If you have 3 good player on D but need pp help 1st almost like trading for a rental(not popular opinion but is what it is).D men who have scored 37-65 points 4 out of 5 years in the league have value. Can Flyers trade for less value pick wise back? Yes. Could Ghost go for a 3rw making 3m ish? For sure. My preference is Ghost stays you put him back on pp1 and try to repair him. If you lose in ED so be it. I rather have Ghost for one more year than pick 40-60ish UNLESS u need cap space for star hunting i.e Johnny Hockey.

Fair enough?
one earns his contract the other doesnt.

I could see Columbus with an interest in either/both of Gaudreu and Monahan. We have a weakness at both LW and C, and have a glut of defenseman to sell. However, we have no picks as sweeteners as Jarmo has said draft picks are off limits (mostly talking about the first rounder).

That would be an absolute trainwreck of a deal for Buffalo. LW is the last forward position Buffalo needs more players at, and we're supposed to give up both of our only legitimate shots at a 2C for one --- one who's production wasn't much ahead of Reinhart last year, at that? Hard no.

If the Flames are selling Monahan, I'm interested. Otherwise, nope.

I think Johnny hockey would rebound in a huge way. But I understand your point. I will say he is a lot better than Reinhart down year or not. I don't think Reinhart is as good as Buffalo fans though so I have always differed from your fanbase there.

NJ has nothing that would be worth Gaudreau. Maybe if Hughes or Hischier did something, a deal can worked around one of
the two.

Lol what? Of course they do. A Gaudreau package would be futures based, with a LW coming back (Bratt or Gusev).

If Gaudreau really is available, you have to hope Jarmo has kicked the tyres. Whether gambling next year’s first is smart...IDK.

From a sheer talent point of view its fairly realistic. It cuts the BS of flyers fan offering JVR and flames fan wanting Konecky. If Frost hits is a legit 2c the Flyers lose the trade. Calgary fan point of view its what i would ask for. From Flyer fan point of view it would be hard if Patrick wasn't cleared.

Alas I don't see how Flyers make this move and make the cap.

Would love Gaudreau in Flyers uniform. No question about it... Adding him could mean a serious run at SC. Two problems.. cap room and price for Gaudreau..?

Is Eichel on his way out of BUF?

If so,and the Flames got offered Eichel for Gaudreau, take it and run Trevling.

Buffalo needs middle 6 centers. Gaudreau ain't it.

They need an entire 2nd line, or you would rather see Reinhart and Olofsson on the 2nd line then they would need 2 top line wingers and a #2 center.

in either case you need at least 3 top 6 forwards, and injury happens so You're going to want 4 or 5 more capable top 6 forwards in case somebody gets hurt.

Yes that does mean you want at least 1 guy capable of being in the top 6 on the 3rd line

no. He was frustrated in an interview, but so were other players. And it wasn’t that bad.

the O’Reilly trade set a bad precedent of a player complaining and getting traded from Buffalo. Not going to be the norm.

there's so much "speculation", "could be", that I have to laugh. Again, you have to be suspicious that there is any truth to it because connecting Hall to Calgary is just logical. Anyone would do it. Everyone likes to hear it.

If Calgary makes a run for Hall, they could trade Gaudreau, but only after exhausting other ways to build cap space first. Stack the offense. Make a strong push for the cup and then trade Johnny later if you must.

The obvious choice would be to offload Lucic. You'd have to empty the cupboards to do that, but it isn't impossible. He'd have only 3 years left.

Allow me to disagree.
I firmly believe that Hall is the biggest demotivating player in the league.
Everywhere he has gone, he has brought the team down.
He carried the devils to the playoffs and won a Hart trophy two years ago...He has never played on a good team it wasn’t his fault.

Ok, he carried his team to the playoffs....and the next year?

Let me tell you what, I think happened: He is always what I stated he is. Maybe its Edmonton (of that time) stink.
He was so happy to get out of EDM, he flourished. Then he gets traded and the Devs flourished, the Yotes sagged.

His Hart trophy is like when Kulemin and Clarkson scored 30-a one season wonder.
