This was known a while ago....NJD had interest as well as buffalo and maybe one other team. ( Florida or NYI maybe ??)
Calgary is better with Hall over johnny if that matters.
Eichel isnt going to Calgary lol...

IF He ever became available Buffalo should be all over this, they have to give Eichel something to work with he wouldn't be enough but he'd be a start
Eichel has plenty to work with in Reinhart and Skinner or Olofsson...the problem is BEHIND Eichel, there is no 2C there to help take the load off of him.

There is also a lack of another second line winger...

Olofsson/Skinner - Eichel - Reinhart
Skinner/Olofsson - ????? - ?????
Kahun - Cozens - Johansson
Girgensons - Larsson - Okposo

The problem also extends to defense...

Dahlin - ?????
????? - Jokiharju
McCabe - Montour/Miller

And goalie...

?????
Ullmark

But Buffalo's top line is not the problem, anyone who watched the Sabres would know that.

Oh man, I can only hope that Buffalo goes crazy and trades Eichel. Knowing Treliving though, the Flames would reportedly be in on it and then Eichel would go to Colorado or something...

It's obviously the Habs, simply because it's standard procedure now.

More and more teams/players use the Habs as a means to get more from the team that wants to sign or trade for them.

Probably a 1st+Prospect+Roster player. You don't think

Monahan+1st+prospect+Roster winger for Eichel would get it done? This is ofc assuming Eichel gets traded which I doubt he does.

that isnt in the realm of being close.

it would cost something along these lines

What Eklund reported early in the week and take it for what its worth is Calgary is the leader for Hall. Johnny Hockey could then be trade to NJ (he didn't say for what but picks plus would make the most sense. Calgary would make salary room in the trade.

The other assumption is while teams like the Flyers and Rangers would be interested, the Flames would have to take money back it order for it to work.

Saying this Eklund can be reliable as a monkey throwing its feces across a dartboard.

Devils are the only team that cap take on salary cap which IF the Flames are signing Hall they would need badly.

AS Flyers fan I doubt any team is taking on the JVR deal. Ghost's 4.5m ? absolutely. Voracek's 8.25m? I'd put at 40/60.

NYI need cash for Barzal. Side note Trotz's style and Johnny Hockey's style looks an ugly match.

NYR my question would be is Johnny Hockey fills every strength rangers all ready have and ticks off none of the weaknesses. Rangers have plenty of scoring but shaky D coverage at best (bottom 5 expected goal allowed based on chances) Rangers need a stay at home d and possibly a 2c depending upon your view of Strome.

is the perception JVR has no value and ghost does reality? 1 produces in his role the other hasnt.

that being said flyers would need to move money to on JG. dont see a fit with calgary

Well, many NJ fans want to keep Palms, plus, I don't think he would waive to Calgary. The other two mentioned are smallish wingers, but they'd be a decent fit as a middle 6 winger in Calgary. I know Gusev received a lot of flack from NJ fans originally, but it seemed like he was starting to really light it up before the break. Same as Bratt. Which one would NJ be willing to part with more? I like both of them, but it depends on your view of Gusev I suppose. Would he re-sign in New Jersey? Would Bratt be the better long term option for the rebuilding team, even though he may be the lesser valued player in comparison to Gusev?

NJ has nothing that would be worth Gaudreau. Maybe if Hughes or Hischier did something, a deal can worked around one of
the two.

And one makes 7m and the other makes 4.5m as well.

This is JVR. A 50 points pp1 specialist. Because of his D and speed you have 2 issues. 1) You cannot pair with a slower C. JVR and Hayes pairing was not effective as Hayes with Laughton. 2)You cannot play against other teams 1st line. (and I am still mad AV put JVR on the ice v Barzal line with under 1 minute and blew the game).Doesn't make him a bad player but not a 7m player. Next year with Konecky elevated to pp1, JVR's stats probably go down more next year. I am more than happy going with a JVR/Frost/Kubel 3rd line next year and attacks the other teams 3rd/4th line. Could you trade JVR and take close to equal money back? Of course. If Flyers retained 2m a year does the market get wider? Absolutely. Would a NJ trade NYI 2021 2 for him straight up for whole 7m when they can just go out and pay for Mike Hoffman in f/a? I really really doubt it.

Ghost's value if you ask 10 people has 10 different values. If trading for... 1) Ghost's knee has to be healthy. 2) You are playing Ghost on pp1. 3) Your ED D players aren't great. If you have 3 good player on D but need pp help 1st almost like trading for a rental(not popular opinion but is what it is).D men who have scored 37-65 points 4 out of 5 years in the league have value. Can Flyers trade for less value pick wise back? Yes. Could Ghost go for a 3rw making 3m ish? For sure. My preference is Ghost stays you put him back on pp1 and try to repair him. If you lose in ED so be it. I rather have Ghost for one more year than pick 40-60ish UNLESS u need cap space for star hunting i.e Johnny Hockey.

Fair enough?

If he lands in Buffalo, Eichel isn't the guy going the other way. You can build that out, but this would be the deal they make to figure that out. Man that Skinner deal hurts them. But Cozens, their first this year and some roster pieces for Johnny Hockey would be bold. It would be a big gamble by Buffalo, but Eichel couldn't be upset that they took that kind of crack, especially since they have been money together in the brief times they have lined up. Maybe Risto is the roster player and Calgary really does some makeovers by dealing a big d-man.

I don't know this has a lot of sliding pieces. But I don't think Buffalo deals Eichel yet, sorry I know that is all Flames fans will do here, but I just don't see that happening even with Johnny Hockey involved and trying to build more pieces. They are going to try something else and I believe he won't ask out just yet, this would be their last swing with him though so I would hope it works out with Sabres fans because if it falls flat in a couple years I do think he would be asking out.

That would be an absolute trainwreck of a deal for Buffalo. LW is the last forward position Buffalo needs more players at, and we're supposed to give up both of our only legitimate shots at a 2C for one --- one who's production wasn't much ahead of Reinhart last year, at that? Hard no.

If the Flames are selling Monahan, I'm interested. Otherwise, nope.
