So, you're choosing Sanford and his grand inconsistency over Lehkonen and his relative consistency up to this year, which is the outlier. Not to mention, Lehkonen is one of the guys on Montreal's PK unit while Sanford is more or less a "shit, we gotta use someone out there" throw-in. If you can figure out how to put a boot up Sanford's ass and get him closer to 30 goals, I'm all for it. Him getting ~15 when he's half-interested in playing and completely apathetic the other half? That's the "guys are passengers" thing Berube keeps talking about.

2. I hate to burst people's bubbles, but Sammy Blais is an energy guy who'll occasionally chip in a little offense, and that's it. He's certainly no offensive dynamo if you're slighting Lehkonen's season stats, because in the same number of games he's got ... one (1) more assist. That's it. Despite all the times he's been lobbed in the top-6 and given chances, he doesn't produce. He's a more physical, less skilled version of Marc Rycroft. He's not a budding power forward just waiting to break out. He's replaceable.

3. Those better players are not Poganski, Joshua, DLR, MacEachern, and Walker. You know, the 5 guys who across 53 combined games are 3-2-5. And keep in mind: I like MacEachern as a 4th-line guy. Not 3rd line, not occasional 3rd line ... a 4th liner, period. If everyone is healthy, maybe you'd have a point though I might still take Lehkonen over Blais just for the fact Lehkonen kills penalties and could provide a little offense and doesn't just run people randomly for dumb penalties. If everyone is not healthy, ... well, you tell me how long you want to live with a DLR-Joshua-Poganski line where offense goes to die.

You're not getting a 1st + for Dunn, you're not getting prime pieces back for Sanford. If we're being realistic, what I put up is in the ballpark of what you can expect. If you want to continue along with an offensively-oriented guy who's having gaffes on defense and an offensively talented player who's putting in about 50% effort on average that went 1-1-2 in the season's first 13 games and doesn't have a point in the last 7, OK.

And in my mind, he's our best forward on PK

Yes I am choosing Sanford over lek for his performance last two years. I am glad you have a lek on right now. But we have better players. We need skilled players not middle six bottom six. If we trade Dunn or Sanford we need high picks in return. End of story
