The AAV seems a bit high in relation to last season, but fine for his 36g and 44g seasons. My take is that the Jets relented on the AAV and gave him a lot of credit for his first two seasons, which is what Laine was insisting upon.

What small salary increase are you talking about? Was there any reports over what he turned down prior to the pre-season? Last Jets offer was Sunday where they offered 2x6. Which is $1.5M less than what he signed for.

Two year term is good for the Jets, because Buff officially comes off the books then and the salary cap is likely going to start escalating around that time.

Preseason is such a waste of time for young NHL players.

For older guys and young bubble players it's super valuable, but Laine shouldn't need any time to get up to speed.
