While i admit last years group was a tire fire at times...with this proposed back end we would be hard pressed to see the playoffs. Also, Zaitsev was Rielly's D partner his whole first year. So quick answer, no.

I disagree. I'd like to see the Leafs move forward with younger, puck-moving and smooth skating d. All depends on who they bring in to play with Rielly though, to form that 27+ minute matchup pair. I think Dermott-Holl and a bottom pair made up of Borgman/Rosen/Carrick are more than serviceable at moving the puck up to the real strength of the team, the forwards.. Players like Hainsey, Polak and Zaitsev have no business on an NHL team getting routinely beat to the outside and in front of the net.
