It could be lots of players.
-Coyle: playing the point (just because), getting 3rd line ToI, getting moved to/from center/wing, trade rumors got under his skin. Russo has been picking at him this year with other comments.
-Spurgeon: being split from Suter on the 5v5 and PP.
-Nino: playing 3rd line time, still on the PP even though he hasn't looked good most of the last month.
-Parise: he got prime PP time and big minutes as soon as he came back. Dunno if he "demanded" it, or BB was trying to whip him into shape. But getting those things could be a point of contention?
-Koivu/Staal dynamic: Staal got (or Koivu lost) Granny/Zucker, which unit goes out first on the PP.
-Suter: lost his little buddy (Spurgeon), his ToI is the lowest it's ever been in MN.
-Dumba: got demoted back to 2nd pair 5v5 and PP.
I don't see the issues coming from:
-JEE or Seeler: rookies with no real pull.
-Winnik, Ennis, Foligno, Prosser, or Olofsson: they could be stuck in the pressbox if they started causing trouble.
-Cullen: hasn't seen the PP for a few years, is probably about at his limit for minutes.
-Granny or Zucker: they play prime minutes 5v5 and the PP.
-Brodin: hasn't been much of a PP guy in the past. Does he think he belongs on the PP? His getting the same minutes and situations as previous seasons.
Pure guess on the situation is Parise took the spot in the top-6 (now) and on on the PP that Coyle thinks should be his. BB likes competition between his players and is pushing Coyle/Parise to compete with each other. Parise is coming out on top right now and Coyle is a little bummed. Russo hears an off the cuff remark and makes it into something bigger than it really is. He needs something to talk/write about to keep his subscribers interested and gossip and rumors are an easy way to go when there isn't anything else to talk about.
