There I will disagree, knuckleball catching Thole is just as valuable defensively as Barney playing at 3B

Navarro last 14 days
.105 BA .190OBP .105 SLG .296 OPS

Allowed quite a few pass balls last game he caught to a non knuckeball pitcher. Think it was Estrada.

Thole doesn't allow as many pass balls as you would expect with a knuckleballer.

Projection value doesn't have a huge difference between Navarro and Thole over the remainder of the season.

Am ok with Thole or Martin catching tonight.

Someone other than Martin might need to catch on Sunday as well, afternoon game.

Start Thole - catching Dickey is the only reason he's here and there's something to be said for making sure Dickey is comfortable.

Thole should only need a couple of at bats before it's time to go to the pen anyway (if not it means the offense is hitting and Dickey is pitching well, so all good).

Once Dickey exits, bring in Russ if game is close or Navarro if not (saving Russ for potential pinch-hitting duties if needed).

I don't hate the idea of giving Martin a day off now with no off days till next week and so many crucial division games looming. Though you hate to remove his hot bat now.

I say once Dickey leaves the game, you pull Thole for Navarro and save Martin and give him a day off.

How many ABs have JD and Jose had? Surprising seeing it so brutal

On the flip side Trout is 6/13 with a 1.33 OPS but Pujols is 0/13 vs Dickey.

Did my own research. Jose is 1/17, JD 3/19 wow

Yeah Jd faced him a few times in Oakland. It's weird how certain players don't hit certain pitchers well. Then you have Smoak with over 1.000 OPS against him too going back to his time with Seattle but last time we faced Weaver in Rogers centre Smoak didn't play and it doesn't look like he's playing tonight. Donaldson dh, edwin at 1st, upton in LF, Thole catching.

I'd be fine with being a 1 GB of Boston heading into the last 3 games of the season against them. Hopefully we would have the wild card clinched by then. Take 2 of 3 and then play a one game playoff against them for the division. I'll take it. Price would presumably have pitched already in the 3 game series so he won't be starting the tie breaker.

I'd prefer to go against Price in a high pressure situation.

Guy sucks in the playoffs.

16 games left. 10-6 probably gets a playoff spot.

Even 8-8. Surely a team with 88 wins won't miss out on a spot. Not shooting for just 8-8, just sayin that I doubt there will be 2 teams in the wild card that have more than 88 wins. Which team below Toronto will have more than 88 wins? Yankees? LOL. Detroit? Nah. Houston? Nope. Seattle? Negative.
