Giroux moves into third and Kucherov inches closer with his 3rd point in his last 6. Even one McPoint Thursday would make this more comfortable.

McDavid 103, 2 GR
Kucherov 98, 2 GR, needs 3-2-5 or better
Giroux 97, 2 GR, needs 0-7-7 or better
Malkin 96, 2 GR, needs 0-7-7 or better
MacKinnon 94, 2 GR, needs 3-6-9 or better

Whats McDavids longest pointless drought? 3 games? If so I dont think he has it in him to finish the year with 4 pointless games.

You're probably right.

I will say though that I think the team rallied around getting him the Art Ross trophy. Once he hit 40 goals and 100 points, like a light switch it seemed like the team realized there wasn't anything left to play for in the final handful of games. He got those three points in Columbus and then the team basically quit. And hasn't played a period of good hockey since imo.

Reminds me of when they got to fake .500 right before Christmas.

That Coloumbus game and the Minnesota game last night have probably sealed Koala's fate.

McD has been pretty stinky for the best player in the league the last few games. Looks like Kucherov is going to run out of room trying to catch McDavid for the Art Ross. Kuch has two games left against two pretty crappy teams but needs six points and McDavid to go pointless.

Good on McDavid for getting some hardware. Two more goals for Hall tonight. Taylor is getting darned close to tying up the Hart at this point.

I hope he does and puts on a show. That MIGHT mean that he doesn't get sold off on the cheap.

I hope you are wrong. How do they justify selling him off? $6M is reasonable for a first line winger and he definitley has chemistry with McD.

Or what if we flip Drai for an extended Karlsson? We'd need a 2C and he isn't overpaid for that either.

I guess as part of a bigger package and depending on the extension?! Something along the lines of a Drai + Sekera for a Hoffman + Karlsson

I doubt that Sekera waives. If he did IMO that deal flatters us a bit.

Maybe the Oilers add a little bit or eat some salary. Sekera would probably be smart in not waiving for that Ottawa gong show. That's a more dysfunctional organization than the Oilers now which is tough to do.

Maybe Klefa instead of Sekera? Then the Oilers would definitely need to add.

Oilers or Sens would need to add? IMO the Sens would.

I don't see Ottawa doing a straight up Drai/Klefa for Karlsson/Nuge deal. IMO Drai's value is a little lower away from McD and he has a tough contract to swallow.

He's a better player than Hoffman, but the fall off from Karlsson to Klefa is much bigger.

McDavid's 83 even strength points ties Henrik Sedin for the most since Jagr's 95 in 1995-96. Malkin and Giroux get points but not enough to keep pace let alone gain. MacKinnon isn't even worth remembering. Kucherov is the only player with a semi-realistic chance and he would need more points in his next 2 games than he has earned in his last 10.

McDavid 41-65-106, 1 GR
Giroux 31-68-99, 1 GR, needs 0-8-8 or better
Kucherov 38-60-98, 2 GR, needs 3-5-8 or better
Malkin 42-55-97, 1 GR, needs 0-9-9 or better
MacKinnon 38-57-95, 1 GR, needs 3-8-11 or better

Interesting how He went cold when RNH went down... Maybe we found a strong winger for him
I really like those two together, and I prefer Draisaitl as the #2C instead of Nuge.

Now we just need to fix the special teams (aka fire coaches), get more consistent goaltending, hope for some bounce back seasons from Sekera, Lucic, and Klefbom (I liked how Klef was playing the last bit before surgery), and hopefully an injection of skill from the growth of Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, and potentially this year's first round pick if we get a top 3 spot.

Basically I'm not all that worried about our forward group at even strength, I'm more worried about our defence, goaltending, and special teams.

Agreed. Suddenly Nuge is back and Rattie played very well too. Nothing against Drai but for right now at least, Nuge is the better fit for Connor's winger.

I think it's good if McDavid's winger has experience as a center as McDavid likes to play much more offensively than whats typically expected from a center. His wingers need to be able to cover up for him when he's usually the leading attacker.
