I think the narrative that he was good in his first year with Boston is WAY overstated on here. I've never been impressed with his play in the spoked B. Sooner they find a way to dump him, the better.
Sure I would have liked a few more goals from him,but he worked his butt of every shift, and hit everything in sight. He is a shell of the player he was the first season.

Jason Garrison waived by Vegas. Do you deal Beleskey + 50% retained for Garrison?

I wouldn't. Not for 50% retained, and can't see Vegas taking full amount of 3.9 x 3 years in exchange for 4.0 x 1 year.

Doesn't help that Vegas are trying to clear out bodies. Garrison is on waivers to soon activate Erik Huala, but that still leaves them with 21 skaters and Shea Theodore is still in the AHL.

Bringing in Garrison and that ties Boston's hands if something better and more suitable is available later.

Should also be concerning that Brad Hunt and Colin Miller have beaten out Garrison for the 3rd pair jobs.

For a 6th LD, I'd just as soon roll with Postma even on his off-side.

I understand the signing, I supported the signing. I admit another in my wealth of hockey wrongs.

I truly thought Beleskey was going to bring to us exactly what they intended. Tough, Sandpaper, Smattering of goals, and energy.

Argh.

I really wanted him to succeed.

I’d roll Beleskey on Krejci’s LW opposite Pastrnak for 10-15 games hope he gets on the scoresheet some and trade him. DeBrusk looks solid it wouldn’t hurt him to play on Backes LW on the 3rd line for a month.

Need to attempt to maximize Beleskey’s value asap

I don't want to see Beleskey in the lineup any more. Too many kids bringing more than he has been giving to the team. It was a bad signing plain and simple. Time to move on. Wins and player development are more important than trying to salvage what they can from a bad contract by playing him.

I agree with this.

Agreed on the "first year" narrative.. "he was the only the guy that showed up for the Winter Classic"

He's always stunk. The first year he was here the team was garbage, and stood out a bit because he has some grit and tried really hard.

Well up until the trade deadline that year, his PPG was the highest of his career. So if anything the production was there based on what was expected. Also had 200 hits by that same 60 game mark, highest on the team for any forward, by far.

Belesky up to that point was exactly as advertised. If people weren't impressed, then their expectations were out of whack to begin with.

You've hinted at something in your past two posts, haven't you?

You are a good observer of the game, so let me ask you something:

1) What does it tell you about the coach when he makes Beleskey a healthy scratch against two heavy teams in San Jose and LA, two teams Beleskey should thrive against because of the style of game?

2) How much further down the chart will the coach drop Beleskey once he has a healthy lineup?

3) If you believe the coach believes he has better options (as I do) then Beleskey, is Sweeney not forced to try and do something?

I believe there are two legit questions: a) What is it going to cost Sweeney to move him, and b) is he going to be willing to pay the price?

Yeah I've heard a couple of things, but really, it's so plainly obvious right now that no one needs me to explain it. I say that respectfully, not trying to be a douche.

I'd give him another crack on the fourth line. I've seen enough of Agostino. Bump Heinen up to his spot and slide Beleskey in for another kick at the can.

Oh, I agree that it's quite obvious. I merely thought that you were hinting at a probable deal. I am sure that Sweeney is attempting to move on from Beleskey. Trading him, however, will cause some pain in the form of giving up a good prospect or two (and a possible draft pick). It will indeed sting, but something probably has to be done with deal with the glut of prospects in the system--not all of whom will end up playing in Boston--and dealing Beleskey is an opportunity to address that issue, for better or for worse.
