I don't think 30 is what makes a player be a veteran, it's the amount of games they've played. I left Sheahan off, but he's
basically a veteran. Hell, even Jensen is already 27.
(I'm now going to move the goalposts by specifying 30+ year old
forwards.)
Honestly, you're right, I was using the age of 30 as an arbitrary number because I didn't want to bother to look up the number of games played by each guy.
However, "veteran" by game experience alone does not necessarily equal veteran by experience and age. There are things a 32 year old Booth can teach a 30 year old Abdelkader -- not to mention the younger guys who are still trying to bounce back and/or find their way in the system.
All in all, I don't feel like Booth would be a detriment, especially if AA holds out, runs to Europe, gets traded, or whatever. He may not be a SUPEROMGNUMBERONEFREEAGENTSIGNING, but that's what cheap, 1-year "prove it" deals are for: guys like him. He's certainly shown he has the desire and skill to play a 3rd/4th line role on the team.
