I just love how he always drops to his knees when he shoots. I don't remember really noticing that from anyone before watching Frk regularly, so it seems like a pretty distinctive trait of his.

Shanny use to do drop to his knees of some of his one-timers.

Shanny didn't do it enough to be noticeable (as far as I remember).

Hull did. But then again when he was looking to snipe a corner he was going to do whatever he could to make sure it happened. Without seeing Frk for more than one season I can't differentiate between a Hull strategy and just bad positioning. Maybe there isn't much of a difference and I am not good a spotting goalscorers.

Stamkos does it often as well. I've seen Panarin do it enough over his short career as well.

Maybe he injured a hamstring while dropping down for a slapper

if he just shot like most players this wouldn't have happened!!!

And he was just about to adjust his shot when he saw a post on a message board encouraging it.

Didn't want to make a new thread, but is anyone else actively hoping Frk doesn't get resigned (or if he does, for it to be a 1 year deal)? I know he probably won't get much money, maybe 1.5 million, but I can't help but think our reliance on him on the PP is part of the reason why our powerplay is so bad... we funnel half of our passes to a player nowhere near as good a goalscorer as our coaching staff seems to think he is. He can shoot the puck 120 MPH for all I care, it doesn't matter if half the time it's off the target or directly at the goalie.

Tomas Tatar was a much better goal scorer in the NHL level than Teemu Pulkinnen because of his accuracy, not his shot power. Seeing people (not so much on this website, but commentators, coaching, etc) cream their pants over a 25 point player is bizzare, especially one as one dimensional as Frk. I like him, seems like a great guy and is a bit greasy, but if this team is looking to turn the corner soon, I really don't think you can waste a roster spot on him, at least on a long term contract. Got to keep your options open if something better comes up.

without him PP would be even worse, because this team don't skate and don't pass . His numbers would be much better in different team ,i like to keep him

Frk is a poor man's pulkkinen who is on the team because of timing.
Pulkkinen actually had good vision and hands for a PP, he just rarely got a shot it.

On the current team, he don't have many clappers. Especially right-handed clappers. So Frk gets the job.
Detroit's been looking for that right-handed boom for how long now?
Brunner.
Pulkkinen.
Frk.
Sproul.
Green.

I like Frk. He always seems to be trying. He made some great plays during the year,

The problem is when he made a mistake, it always seemed to be a glaring mistake.

Frk gets PP time over Pulks because he is better, not because of luck. Pulks didn't even score 30 in the AHL this year with just 22 or so, so no one in the NHL is missing anything.

I agree. He should be given at most 2 yrs, and at most 1.1Million, and I would highly prefer we pay him 850K.

If he says "look at my numbers, I deserve 1.7-1.8Mil". I'd say... OK sign somewhere else.

I do not think Frk has any leverage at all. I think he knows he is lucky to be in the NHL at all. If I were him, id take the 850K for 2 yrs. Infact if i were Frk id sign for less money on a 3 yr 1-way contract... garauntees you 3 years, and someone like detroit might bee ok to sign a 3 year deal if it is fully buryable.

I think he's a fine depth player, good 4th line power play specialist, since he can actually grind a bit. I don't want to overpay him though because "huge clap bomb XD!" 2 years at $1mil. Not too high so we can burry him or trade him easily if a prospect takes his spot.
