Gun to my head I probably take Rantanen but this is a good poll, all of these players are great.
You’re entitled to that opinion. Still doesn’t change my voteExcept goals and points are actually a measurable statistic. He’s really good defensively needs to be backed up with actual stats other than just saying ‘watch him play’ which is a subjective opinion and inevitably highly biased.
your joking right? Just wondering, how isn't Marner in the same conversation? Two years ago I wouldve said Rants or Pasta
Last year I wouldve said Kap or Pasta
This year I would say Robertson or Pasta
So
Pasta
Robertson
Kaprizov
Rantanen
Marner (not in same conversation IMO)
I think the OP's question was As of right now which probably means so far THIS season.Last year...Marner first team all star, Rants 2nd
I say this passively but I think wingers in general have less control over regular chances turning into high danger chances vs total chances. High dangers chances are closer to the net and more dependent on defensemen mistakes. Obviously the contrary could be true and similar arguments could be made for regular chances but I think this definitely has an effect. I would argue wingers have more influence on chances out high. It’s probably not a coincidence the uptick in high danger chances in particular occurred when Toronto’s defense was plagued with injuries. He also received quite a bit more defensive zone faceoffs this season (many more than the other players on this list) which isn’t helping either. As far as I am aware his defensive metrics were comfortably the best last season.
I was just commenting that recency doesnt really apply to MarnerI think the OP's question was As of right now which probably means so far THIS season.
This season so far in order pt wise...Had to list Thompson.
Thompson
Robertson
Pastrnak
Kaprizov
Marner
Rantanen.
That will probably chance by the time the season is done.
Best player between the bunch so far this season.......Pastrnak.
pretty much my first thought reading this poll but some people are fantasy hockey people I guess. So Rants is really getting underrated.
