I think the contract still slides if he goes down to the AHL. Don't quote me on that though.

This is true.

And if it was an OHL player you can send them back to the OHL at any time, but you cannot call them up, if its after 9 games, it burns a year of ELC, if its over 41 games it burns a year of RFA.

For example - Draisaitl.

So after all that, our opening day lineup has one right-handed defenceman?

What a mess

Not so bad. This offseason, we have added:
2 RHD (Larsson and Benning)
1 LHD (Russell)

It's just that the LHD beat out some of the RHD that were on the team last year (Gryba, Fayne).
So while we have 4 RHD, as opposed to 3 last year, only one (the one we added) is good enough to be on the team this year. Which tells me that our defence has improved greatly (Gryba and Fayne made the roster last year)

Just a bad situation. If drai goes back to C and Pulijaarvi struggles then what? Kassian becomes our #2 right wing? It's a bad situation to end up in. So much available on the waiver wire I don't get it.

Rosters had to be submitted at 3:00 MT, right? Did the Oilers announce anything? They had 24 this morning, so one of Slepyshev/Lander/Fayne/Benning would have to go down.

Again another rookie. What if he doesn't accomplish much the first 10 games and needs time in Bakersfield. It's the same old story and it could have been addressed for free without giving up assets.

Lander clear so I guess he would be the obvious one

I have an idea. Most will not like it, but a possible way to wake RNH up.

Pouliot-McDavid-RNH

Lucic-Draisaitl-Eberle

Slepyshev-Lander-Kassian

Maroon-Letestu-Pitlick

Two scoring lines, two defensive lines that can create offensive zone pressure and draw penalties, tire the opposing teams out.

Then when Pulju is ready, the third line can become more of a threat too.

This is mainly to get Hopkins involved offensively. To get him going through confidence, would be like aquiring a completely new 65-70 point player, which is a first liner in today's NHL.

Thought?

It wouldn't be right to do that to Maroon.
