Struck by fact Carlyle isn't putting Kadri with Clarkson, since they will certainly play together. Joe is getting a big chance tonight to prove himself.

I hate the sens, but Ryan is a hell of a player, i would have loved the leafs to get him back in the day, but Lupul JVR and Clarkson are great wingers also... lol but hes the last guy i would've wanted the sens to get. Super talented, i question his heart but he is a super talent way rather have him then Spezza. Dont like Spezzas game at all he doesnt scare me but Karlsson and Ryan scare me a lot, same as Turris when he has an open shot.

@HennyTweets Probable lines in ott: jvr-colborne-clarkson. Raymond-bolland-kulemin. Broll-kadri-abbott. Ashton-mcclement-devane

Nice! looks like Colborne is getting a chance to show the coaching chance his offensive game. I sincerely hope he can shine.

Edit: beat to the chase. But some additional thoughts.

That Colborne line *should* be a forechecking and board-play nightmare for defenses, also two players who love crashing the net, looking forward to see how it pans out.

Looks like our possible 3rd line is getting a chance to mesh in this game.

As much as I'd like to see Kadri get in some time/games with his future linemates, this line seems like an attempt to see a) what broll and Abbott can do with a really creative center (can broll use his size effectively to dig pucks out for the scorers, and is there some potential offense there when paired with two offensive players?)

The Mcclement line looks really aggressive and gritty, should be more interesting to watch than mcclement with Orr and Maclaren.

Abbott will get a good shot to make some magic happen with Kadri tonight, always liked Abott but seems to kinda **** himself and not play to his ability, hes gotta play with more flair and creativity, playing it safe doesnt work when your are 5 foot 9.

Hopefully the Bolland line does well, and i have no worrys about the top line, JVR will carry them offensively and Clarkson will bring fire. Really believe JVR is developing into a top NHL scorer.

Something tells me he is being showcased. Someone wants to see if he can play in a top 6 role (CALGARY) and are gauging whether or not hes worth what Toronto is asking for.

Probably that combined with Toronto seeing if he can be anything more then just not good enough to crack our center depth chart.

I really dont see where he fits. Especially with Franson unsigned, and Rielly, and Raymond pushing to make the squad. Somethings gotta give and it starts with him.

Interesting line-up to see how things blend and how some players perform in their roles.

How does Joe being a C have to do with Franson fitting in or Rielly? Big J can't be demoted, he'll make the team.

I'm sure you sens fans are hoping for a wee bit more than 57pts from your "star" new winger.

But it's funny that you brought up clarkson in comparison. Clarkson is apparently the worst acquisition if the offseason, while ryan is super duper awesome impact addition...and yet...

Last two years:

B.Ryan (26): 128gms, 42gls, 87pts, 193ht, 53bk, 17:43 (82gms, 27gls, 56pts, 124ht, 34bk)
D.Clarkson (29): 128gms, 45gls, 70pts, 253ht, 25bk, 16:50 (82gms, 29gls, 45pts, 162ht, 16bk)

Amazing how close the crappy overpaid clarkson is to stud star winger bobby ryan the past couple of years.

My comparison was as lacking as yours. To call a 30 goal man craptastic is pretty ridiculous. One down (lockout shortened) season does not a craptastic winger make. At the same time, I don't believe one 30 goal season means a guy is worth $5.25 on a 7 year term.

I agree he signed for like 600k so I doubt they would trade him when he is so cheap and can play offense. For tonight, I think they are trying to see him in an offensive role.

How did they compare last year? Without even looking I'm guessing it's not in Ryan's favour.

This is why I don't use stats in arguments. Because just like you did, people use selective stats that just work in their favor. I decline to believe that you just happened to miss out on last year's record in the comparison.

Fair enough. And they are actually pretty comparable. Although Kessels last full year was definitely a step better. My point was to show that Zekes characterization was beyond ridiculous. In no way has Bobby Ryan turned in a "craptastic" season.

The fact that he is pretty much on Kessels level completely disproves any point Zeke was trying to make.

And how about points or at least assists? I'd imagine that would also be another important statistic to compare as it shows what kind of effect you have on your line and team.

Especially considering we've seen much more of a playmaking kessel these last few years.

Adding in last year:

Bobby Ryan
Totals ..... Games: 355 .. Goals: 142 .. Assists: 137 .. Points: 279 .. PPG: 0.786

Phil Kessel
Totals ..... Games: 352 .. Goals: 155 .. Assists: 158 .. Points: 313 .. PPG: 0.889

Kessel is also younger and over those last 5 seasons has had inferior linemates to Ryan.
