I think this is a pretty good forward lineup. A young player will probably make a move somewhere here (Leipsec, Rychel). A big advantage for Left Wingers in the Leafs leafs system especially if JVR is traded.

I really like that 4th line btw, Komarov Soshnikov and Martin would cause a lot of havoc.

Fill that defense spot with the biggest game changer you can possibly find. Probably has to be a 2 way guy also. Bozak out. Jvr I think would be great with Matthews and Marner. If bozak is kept, maybe keep Kapanen down another year and go Leivo-Bozak-Nylander. I think we should just move on though.

Gotta keep Martin, I know we have a lot of talent but I think his role is a must have on a team like this. He fights, he goes gets guys off their games, polices things and defends his teammates. I known for sure we can run 4 offensive lines... but teams may take more advantage of us without a guy like Martin who isn't the best fighter but keeps everyone in check with his fighting and bruising style.

I also think we're destined for Hyman Matthews some more though but thas what I'd want.

As the season progresses, I can see them moving Nylander into the middle, and moving Bozak to the 4th line. And then bringing up someone like Kapanen to play with Matthews.

Forwards:
I think we may get a great prospect or two in a trade, but probably not a vet, other than someone who goes in a 3rd/4th line role. So, not much changes, other than some guys who are ready get to play regularly (Sosh, Kappy, Freddy the Goat). We'll pick up a solid vet presence, and he will be big and physical, book it.

Defence:
We get a very solid up-and-comer, or an established vet - but it's a top 4 guy, likely to play with Rielly, but it could easily be with Gardiner as well, and then Zaits would pair up with Mo Riells. Bottom pairing sorts itself out in preseason, or a minor pickup.

Goal:
We'll try another proven, solid backup. We struck out last time, so second time's the charm - but Sparks could definitely be in the running here, depending on his health and how management look at him.

THE BIG MOVES
So obviously Bozak is traded here in this scenario. That's the only obvious trade I can think of that will likely happen.

I would like to see how Kadri and Marner plays together, a couple of guys from the Ontario Hockey League.

Other teams and coaches would look at that Kadri and Marner as the checking line and think wtf? Last year 30 goals at center and about 20 goals on the wing. As checking line? That's better than a lot of first lines in the league.

If they put the top defense pairing on against Kadri / Marner line, then who they play against a hard charging Matthews line?

Brown is reliable. Nylander is getting more reliable every game. That Brown Nylander future considerations line should be pretty good.

As for defense, duct tape is the answer.
