What do we think the ceiling is for Stan? 2-way, 2nd pairing dman? I've seen him listed as more of a defensive player on other sites (Dobber), but when i've seen him play, his game looks to lean more in the offensive direction.

I think he will be boom or bust tbh... He makes it as a hronek/Barrie type of offensive player or he becomes an offensive d specialist in euro leagues. Hope I'm wrong of course but that is my 2 cents.

I like the Orlov comparison someone else made earlier in the thread. His defensive game needs work for sure but there's not many 19 year olds that don't. I can see it taking 4 or 5 years but I can see a solid #2 or #3 dman in Svozil.

Seems a bit ambitious. I think his everything goes perfectly right upside is a #3. But I dont think getting a 4/5 out of him is crazy. Especially on Columbus where he'll likely be behind Werenski/Mateychuk and possibly Gavrikov if he sticks around. Different type of defender but Richard could be in the mix too

Those 28 games has Bedard and we know he is insanely good.

The 2 games here were against him and without him. Looks like Stan has some skills.

I hope the Jackets can let him in stew in the AHL for a season or two. Could he contribute sooner rather than later? Sure, but I want him to gain a little bit more confidence and really have to earn that spot.

2 years away at best IMO. I LOVE him but he's 19 in the WHL .. he should be killing it. Going to AHL will be very hard for him (or any 20 year old Dman). If cracks lineup as 21 it'd be impressive and early. But we'll see.

I think Jiricek gets there next year, mostly because of the CBJ lack of depth. But I wouldn't be mad to see him sit in the AHL another 30-50 games next year. I'd rather over-ripen him than put him into a bad situation too early.

Agreed.. he has an edge though. He's played at the Senior World's, was playing good minutes in Pro Extraliga in his draft year and now AHL.... he only plays against kids at the World Jrs TBH.

Plus top 10 picks arrive earlier...

Lots of factors there, like their leading scorer (3rd in the league) just got called up. If Bemstrom sticks this time, that's a huge hole in Cleveland, especially with 3 other dmen called up to CBJ.

I'm kind of hoping for an early end to Pats' season so that he could reunite with Jiricek for the Monsters' playoff run in the AHL.

I want jiricek at the Skoda cup! Do you think Stan would be good enough for a Calder cup run? Tough transition from jr to AHL... I expect him to be in AHL to start next season and to most likely fade a little till he gets the hang of it.

Well if the transition is going to happen in this calendar year anyway then why not? Are you implying it would be too overwhelming for him? He was arguably one of the best players in the WJC featuring many high-end D prospects with pro/AHL experience already under their belts.

If CBJ didn't have a surplus of dmen for their AHL club this year I think he would've started the season there (in hindsight though I must admit that it was probably the best decision to send him back to juniors, but by the same token I don't think it means he can't be ready to take the next step this spring).

We will see. As of today Monsters are not in a playoff spot, we don't know yet how many of their regular D will be healthy come playoff time and do they even need to add another D then, whether Svozil is healthy, how CBJ assess his development etc, so nothing is guaranteed. Now that you mentioned the Skoda I wouldn't mind seeing him there provided Cleveland and Regina come up short in the playoffs...which leads me to wonder how does HC Jalonen perceive him. Do you think he could make the team?

I'm not sure.. I just have seen a lot of my fav prospects go to AHL and really struggle.

Stan's game is more offensive in nature and that's a real hard NHL transition too!

You're right though, if CHL ends, I think it'd be good to get him looks in the AHL and something to work in summer as he adjusts to that game.

I'm obviously a massive fan but I was thrilled he went to CHL. It's perfect and he seems to be overachieving and his confidence is sky high.

Regarding Jiricek.. he made the Skoda Cup Team last year! He had a medal at the Senior worlds before he had one at the Junior Worlds.lol I think Owen Power did this too.. but his were double Gold. I could be wrong.

He did get healthy scratched near the end of the Skoda.. I doubt he'd sit one second this time and would play all 8 to 11 games. I think he'd be Top 4 easy at this point. I can't see our Euro D pushing him down and I'm not sure which NHL D shows. He'd be very welcome! FTR.. if we had the World Cup in 2024 as scheduled I think he would've been the 7/8 at least.
