This one is easy, as the poll indicates. EK, thought this poll would be closed already, Matthews is the better goal scorer as most fwds when you compare them to Defencemen. But EK is an offensive driver that goes even beyond his impressive stats line, as shown in the playoffs he was on the ice practically for all of Ottawa's goals for in the playoffs.

Driving Ottawa off a cliff this season.

Karlsson and it's not even close. Anyone who says otherwise must support Leafs :D
Or they watch hockey and see that Karlsson is not the same player. How can Matthews be out producing someone who is better offensively than him? There is irony in your statement. Matthews being on the Leafs is certainly a factor but not the way you imply.

You’re so right, as always :sarcasm:

Lol at you Leafs fans... bumping an old thread here to laugh at posters who said the obvious thing at the time. Wasn't it enough that you created a thread on your boards to give homer votes for Matthews in another poll here? Pathetic.

What's funny about this is Matthews is better defensively.

And offensively Auston is pretty much ppg with more actual goals and points, so I voted him.

Matthews is on pace to have an all-time goalscoring season and the highest 5v5 goal scoring season in 15 years and people on here are saying he's not elite. How is that not bump worthy?

The thread was about whether Matthews is offensively better than the best offensive minded dman of this decade. Looking at their production at the time this thread was created; the poll result is very justified to say the least. Bumping it now that Karlsson has obviously looking like his injuries has taken a toll is silly imo. Matthews is elite offensively though, a few people who said he isn't must have missed his 40 goal rookie season... still not worth bumping it.

Back in November, Karlsson was the right answer, and he might become the right answer again if he leaves Ottawa and plays for a real hockey team.

You don’t like it when people making smug remarks have it blown back in their faces? Oh well, too bad! “Matthews is better AINEC. AM by a mile, not even close! Is this a joke? Only homers could vote for Karlsson!”

Ovechkin had 43 ES goals in 2007-2008. Even if Matthews had not missed any games this season, he would be on pace for 41.

This season obviously Matthews but overall still EK as far as I am concerned. Dman vs a Center and offensive production .

this season and last.

Ek has put up 108 pts in 127 games

Matthews 116 in 130 games.

and its crazy to say that compared to previous trends/seasons that EK is having a down year in production this season.

I think Matthews will really pull away next season once he starts playing more PP minutes. It will be interesting to see EK rebounds next year.

It's actually the AINEC type comments. Try not to make definite/absolute statements.

if Karlsson AINEC was the right answer, why did it end up being completely wrong?

Personally I love it when people get their smug and incorrect predictions thrown back at them only to whine about how it's somehow our fault that they were so off base

if you want to blame it entirely on Karlsson's injury (which is still a cop-out), Matthews has a higher PPG and more 5v5 points through 48 games than Karlsson had all of last year. there's tons of evidence that says Karlsson isn't miles above Matthews and it's silly for people to try to claim that
