If both teams score, NZ would advance with a draw due to away goals. But if it's 0-0 after 90 minutes, it'll go to extra time and possibly penalty kicks.

Yeah, I meant a draw with goals.

No one really expected us to be in this position after the first game. Very very unlikely we make it but anything could happen, as we've seen so far these qualifiers.

What's your excuse?
Also I've finally figured out/chrome is remembering the new link for the updated url.

I've lost minutes of my life due to That, and I expect compensation from hf admins

Gone in 60 Seconds. Not talking about the movie. That's how long it took me to dump off my tickets for the New Jersey game after being reminded by the Jets that Saturday is the day of the Santa Claus parade. Downtown is stupid busy enough on game day without adding that into the mix. I really must keep that in mind when we do our ticket draft. I'll take a pre-season game over a parade day game. That was just too close. :phew:

Hi guys - my wife and I are headed to Winnipeg this weekend for the Devils game on Saturday. I hope it’s okay if I ask a few questions:

- What sites should we see while we’re there?

- What bars/restaurants should we hit?

- We have a 7am flight on Sunday. Does anyone know of a reliable taxi company we could use to get there? The bus doesn’t run early enough as we’d need to be picked up around 5am

Thanks so much for any suggestions!!

Reliable taxis - Winnipeg Manitoba

Pick one.

As far as sights and Sounds, what are you looking for?

Well I feel bad that we don’t have enough time to see a whole bunch, but we are staying near “The Forks”. Is that worth walking through? Or walking up along the Red River?

Admittedly, we’ll probably spend most of our time up near the arena. My wife is excited by a Santa parade happening down Portage Ave just after the game on Saturday..

If youre staying at Inn at the Forks, Smith is a good restaurant to try right at the hotel. Its worth walking around at the Forks to check out the shops. It's not cold enough yet for our ice trail on the river I don't think. The Museum for Human Rights is nice to check out there as well but the weekend hours aren't the best. If you are downtown there are lots of options. If you like chain type places then try one of these as they are all near the area, Earls, Moxies, The Keg, Browns or Shark Club. Shark Club is attached to the rink and has a great atmosphere on game days and has a casino attached to it if that's your thing. A few other restaurants nearby worth a look are Rudy's and if you want to try something more local Bistro type then the exchange district (5 min walk) has a few places like that, Deer and Almond being my fave (Tapas place). We have great little Bistros and I recommend trying them. Let me know if you're willing to cab it and Ill give you more of my faves, but most need a reservation. The Pint is a pub a few blocks from the rink that is hopping into the night as they have two floors and I think the upstairs turns into dancing into the evening and is usually a blast after Jet games. Also, if you're willing to cab it then there are other options for bars and restaurants on Osborne and Corydon. As for other things to do not sure you'll have the time, what else you looking at doing?
Cabs are reliable, just book in advance and it should be a 20-25 minute ride to the airport tops. Enjoy the trip and let me know what else you need to know! And wear a Zajac jersey and you won't get heckled ;)

If you get in on Friday night, here are some live bands playing that night. If that’s your thing. I like Pop Vegas. The hotel at the Forks has live bands as well.

Or if you like dancing, you can go to Larocca. Smith and York. It’s a Mexican restaurant, and then they clear some tables around 10 pm. It becomes a dance floor, and they teach Latin dancing.

The Forks market has so many beers to choose from that you can sample before the afternoon game. Try the grapefruit beer. Yummy. You won’t have problems finding food at the Forks. Everything is local.

Too bad you and your wife are not staying longer. Enjoy your stay.

I just finished watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie called Vertigo. James Stewart plays a character named John Ferguson. I thought that was funny.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! We are definitely going to layer up this weekend. Saturday is forecasted to be about average “middle of winter in NJ” temperatures so it will be fun :D

Unicity Taxi is the biggest cab company I think. 204-925-3131. You can pre-book.

The Forks is cool to walk through. Some local/eclectic stores. It looks like it's going to be a bit chilly this Saturday though...a high of 15 in your Fahrenheits. You may want to stay inside at the Forks. The Manitoba Museum is on Main. The polar bears at the Zoo. Assiniboine Park. The Canadian Human Rights Museum at the Forks. The Provincial Legislature at Broadway and Memorial. The Exchange District. Those, plus the Forks, are the main touristy things around.

The Santa Claus Parade generally isn't too exciting - don't feel you have to freeze your butts off to catch it. It's mostly flatbed semis with lights on them IIRC...I haven't been for at least 5 years (my kids are too old to go now, and also it's usually unpleasantly cold). Maybe I make it sound lamer than it is, but if you watch the whole thing you'll definitely get a bit tired of the flatbeds. It ain't the Rose Bowl!

New Zealand out of the World Cup.

Italy, USA, Chili, New Zealand, all the exact same skill as the Canadian team :sarcasm:

Pretty surprising. I had Chili as the hottest team going into the qualifiers. ;)

This Ontario college strike is a really massive kick in the balls. I paid $7800 for my residence this year and haven't lived there for a month, and the strike doesn't seem like it's ending soon. Apparently about 90% of the union voted no on the latest offer.

I'm dreading going back now because if they continue this semester it's going to be so compressed that the workload will just be stupid. And my program is lab heavy and I'm most likely going to miss out on most of them. Thank god I'm not an international student, I can't imagine how stressful this must be for them.
