how comparable are they? give your pick a 10, then like a boxing judge, give the other dude a rating between 8 and 10.

IMO Ian white will be either a PP specialist,. great offensive defencement... or will have a very short carrer. But I really believe in this kid.
White has averaged 19 minutes a game with Toronto with four points in four games, and the Leafs are 3-0-1 with him in the lineup. And, he has never been arrested!Starsdude said:No comparison-Daley is a 3/4 on a 100 point team-White is stuck in the AHL. Daley was stars best defenseman last night BTW

The Leafs may not be in the playoffs but these were all big games against good teams.Ott = Snott said:White having played 4 games on a lottery team equals Daley playing in all games on one of the top contenders in the NHL, how?
Daley has been our top youngster this year, IMO ahead of Jokinen and Miettinen. He might not be a rookie, but he's younger than both.
You have got to be kidding me, White isn't close to Daley.mooseOAK said:The Leafs may not be in the playoffs but these were all big games against good teams.
Bottom line is that White has the offensive skills that Daley doesn't have while the rest of their game is probably equal.
That is not correct, at all.Jason MacIsaac said:You have got to be kidding me, White isn't close to Daley.
You must be joking. Before Mitchell came to Dallas, Daley was the 3rd best defenseman on a 100 point, division winning team. Both Daley and White have put up roughly the same offensive numbers in juniors/AHL. Daley was asked to focus on his supposed weakness, his defensive play, this season. He gets practically no PP time. His offense will come.mooseOAK said:Bottom line is that White has the offensive skills that Daley doesn't have while the rest of their game is probably equal.
And Aki Berg was a top four defenceman on a division leading team before Bryan Leetch came in last season.Chaos said:You must be joking. There's plenty of reason.....Daley is simply the better player.mooseOAK said:You like Daley, fine, but there is no reason for White to take a back seat to him. Just watch him play some time.
Ott = Snott said:This thread shows how immensely underrated Trevor Daley is by being compared to Ian White, and then actually be seen as the lesser one.
Trevor Daley has been one of our top defensive defenseman this season. A part of his game many thought to be his weakness, yet nothing seems to be standing furhter from the truth right now. He also is one of our top shutdown defensemen on the PK. He's already a legit number four defensemen and then his offense hasn't even begun to show. Outstanding skater and should round out nicely into a two way defenseman capable of about 30+ points a season, 40+ if he becomes the PP QB people expected him to be. He doesn't have many weaknesses.. A #2/#3 defenseman is what the future probably holds for Daley.
